Sanchez sucks. Pete Carrol NEVER came out and publically said a player of his wasn't ready for the NFL... never before, until now. Hint, hint.

    What Carroll actually said:

“The facts are so strong against this decision,” Carroll said. “After analyzing all the information, the truth is there — he should’ve stayed for another year.”

Carroll cited a study that shows 62 percent of underclassmen quarterbacks who declare early for the Draft eventually don’t pan out in the NFL. He also pointed to Sanchez’s NFL Draft evaluation, which projected Sanchez as a second-round selection.

“Mark’s chance to increase his value and become the top player in college football next year would have been worth $10-$20 million or more — likely more,” Carroll said. “One more year of running a team is almost priceless, so he lost the chance to fully prepare himself and become the very best he could be before going to the NFL.

“That’s why there’s a 62 percent failure rate for underclassmen quarterbacks.”

    What he meant:

"That sonovabitch is walking out on me when Aaron Corp is not ready to go yet and threatening MY run as college football's top coach!"

The best thing to do with the draft pick is trade back. Mark Sanchez will probably be gone and is a big risk anyway, Vontae Davis has huge potential but his off the field troubles and questionable work ethic are issues. The draft is especially deep this year and to pick up and extra early round pick could be big. The depth at wideout with Heward-Bey, Robinske, Harvin, Hicks, and Williams would be worth dropping down.

With the Sheppard trade drafting a CB just took the back burner, at least for round 1. As it stands now, it looks like WR, perhaps Macklin, Bey, or Nicks would be the team's best option. If Sanchez or Stafford fall the Jets could grab either of them as well. I don't think they go Freeman in round 1, although trading up for him like they did for Keller last year wouldn't be out of the question. The other potential first round pick could be a DE as the team can use a serious upgrade there.

Davis has had some on field issues, but no off field issues. He got benched when Illinios was blowing his team out. He stopped playing, he got beaten and gave up on the field, and was benched for it. He has a bit of his brother in him... the Vernon Davis that Singletary ran off the field and into the locker room. I'm not aware of any off field issues with him.

Pete Carrol was right about Sanchez as far as I am concerned. USC always has another QB ready. Cassel never played when he was there. It's a pro style offesne, and QB's are willing to ride bench to get a chance to play.
