It has less to do with luck, and more to do with who is making the choices. Terry Boobway. Rex Ryan, Mike T. and John Idzik were ALL in over their head. Trading TWO first round picks and a 4th round pick for a toad like Dwayne Robertson is indicative of the kind of people the jets foolishly have employed to run their drafts. As I have posted here before. I strongly believe that over half the people on this message board could have drafted better over the years than those morons listed above.
Three things. 1. 20-20 hindsight whilst looking at the draft is like mental masturbation. The draft occurs with foresight, some good, some bad but critiquing it afterward as to "who we could have had" is silly. 2. Those draft had nothing to do with luck, good or bad. Other than the Gholston pick which was unlucky because we were picking 6th in a 5 player draft. But none of those misses had to do with luck. 3. Fuck John Idzik with a barbed wire covered hockey stick for not taking Teddy Bridgewater. _
In the spirit of NYJ trivia, the 2008 draft saw Breno and Kellen Davis drafted ahead of Erik Ainge in the 5th--with Joe Mays and Lex Hilliard going in the 6th, and with Matt Flynn, Nate Garner, and Chaz Schilens going in the 7th
How is that unlucky? Other teams have drafted better than we have. Scouting, team need, philosophy, and short and long term plans all come into play.
Are your fingers stained red after all that cherry picking? Sorry, just joking around. Were most of the draft picks bad, if not downright awful? Yes, but there were a lot of busts they could have drafted as well. Things can always be worse. I just thank God that we have what finally looks to be a competent, quality GM and scouting dept that know how to identify talent.
There are actually 31 other teams that passed on all these players so I'm not sure what your point is. And if you think Jordy Nelson here would be the same Nelson we see in GB right now then I don't know what to say. Just one example.
I like how you used bold letters. That way it has the same effect of pouring salt over an open wound every time I read a name.
5 years from now Bucs fans will be like: "Can't believe we took Winston with Leonard Williams sitting right there"
Yes and Scherff isn't looking too good right now. Even if he pans out, I doubt he has the impact Williams will.
id be happy with bridgewater, but dont get the super hype on him. to me his ceiling is like 10th-12th best qb in football
I think his ceiling is Chad. I don't think he'll get there and I think he has a very high injury chance along the way but he could be a very good game manager for awhile. He's not a franchise QB unless he hits the 100th percentile of him.
Good picks except for Becht, that was a wasted 1st round pick, with his skill level he could have been had in the 4th round, hands of stone
U started in '08, it runs a lot deeper than that my friend. google Johnny Lam Jones, Ken Obrien, Kyle Brady, Keyshawn Johnson, Blair Thomas to name a few off the top of my head.
