The Jets traded 4 draft picks for 1 draft pick. Let's be clear on that.

I still can’t figure out why this thread isn’t buried with the rest of the shitty threads. Don’t think anyone doesn’t understand what the trade is.

LOL sorry, I had to, but I digress

We were in position to take a shot at QB last year and passed on Watson, looked good early, but time will tell

When you're a QB needy franchise and are that close, you have to take a shot.

We now will be set at QB for the next 3 years minimum to evaluate whoever Mac decides on

No he's just a really bad QB and I'd like for the Jets to finally have a really good QB.

I prefer Mayfield just bc of the accuracy and footwork issues.

I am also a little wary of Allens ability to be able to read a D

I think Allen is a legitimate first round pick for a team that can afford to develop him, like Pittsburgh, San Diego, or New England. He's a terrible fit for the Jets and creates too much risk after paying what we did to move up.

There are 6, possibly even 7 QBs who will be first rounders this year, but they are in two clearly separate tiers.

Your money tier is Mayfield, Darnold, and Rosen. Those 3 are the blue chippers.

After that, you have Allen (most talented), Jackson (greatest threat), and Falk (flying totally under the radar because of everyone else). Then there's Rudolph... I don't know how to feel about him. My feeling is he's an early second, but I wouldn't be shocked if he slips into 1st.

For the teams who need to secure a strong answer at QB, you want someone in the blue chip group. For teams that aren't desperate, the other guys could fit in depending on their scheme and what they are looking for.

I can totally see Falk going to NE for instance and driving us all crazy when he ends up as the third best QB in this class.

    Really?
The reality is we traded 3 2's in order to swap 1's.

Is this really this hard to understand?

It's an all or nothing deal at this point, the jets mortgaged everything on this one pick. They have to get it right, if they do you won't remember those three second rounders. The downside is obvious, if the pick is a bust and doesn't become their franchise QB, plus the loss of three early 2nd round picks, it sets the franchise back a decade. Huge gamble, can't wait to see what they do with that pick.

In no way is Mayfield on the same level as Darnold and Rosen.

A undersized QB from a gimmick offense, playing on the best team in a crap conference that doesnt play defense who lived on the wheel route isnt on the same level as pro offense producers like Darnold and Rosen. People love Mayfields moxie, hes a much bigger gamble than the other 2.

Played Ohio State, TCU twice (Top 10 defense both times) and almost beat Georgia..... What? Dude was shredding top defenses.

Oh yeah, youve got it all figured out and everyone else is wrong. You wont find many, if more than a few, that have Mayfield on the same level as Rosen or Darnold. Research will tell you that youre wrong.

I get it, you like him, dont change what he is though. Hard to know how any of these gimmick QBs will translate to the NFL. Most dont come close.

TCU had a down year, I don't think they were a top 10 defense last year. He didn't really shred Georgia, especially when it mattered the most. I thought the pressure took Mayfield out of the game.

If the Jets traded up for Mayfield, I hope they know what they are doing, I think thats a mistake.
