Never said Sanchez wouldn't be on the team. However he will be riding the bench. And yes Rex's job will definitely be on the line next year. This is all the more reason for Rex to wisen up and not make the same mistake he made this year by sticking with Sanchez against better judgement or else Rex will be fired swiftly. Who knows how the competition plays out? Noone does. That said, the FA QB will be given every oppty to win the job.

Ok great, you think Rex is going to start Mcelroy or some phantom FA QB whom you haven't identified over Sanchez. We'll see if Rex thinks greg Mcelroy or the phantom FA gives the team the best chance to win. Assuming the phantom FA is just some backup castoff qb - I think Rex'll go with Sanchez.

can we still hire that Lombardi grandson from the Saints as QB coach? or was it OC only for him?

obviously MM will bring in his own experienced WCO staff

I think this will be one of the most important hires on the coaching staff.
No matter who is our long term signal caller I'm sure he'll be a young guy who needs the right coaching.
I think that was a major problem in the development of Sanchez.

Fair enough, we agree to disagree.

based on what? Because a guy played the position does not mean he can teach the nuances of the position.

I think you are hoping for that to be the case! I don't. I do not think the WCO can be mastered by a QB who is as inaccurate as Sanchez. Further he has little to no pocket presence and all too frequently locks onto a receiver. He does not read defense quickly enough to be effective.

How about hiring a good quarterback first?

I think you need to wake up and smell the coffee. Its not about hope and its not about mastering the WCO. Its about reality. NYJ lack the cap room to bring in a quality QB like alex smith. So if we do bring in a QB it won't be anybody who is going to be significantly better than MS. Also despite your view, MS has been a successful WCO qb at USC and he could improve as a WCO qb under MM such that he'll be the best option amongst 3 mediocre choices. If you disagree fine, but then you should be able to tell me what FA qb do we reasonably have the cap room for who is also an obviously better QB than MS.

If that is Rex's philosophy, we should be seeing the last of Rex after next year. If Rex knows whats best they will bring someone in, and that unnamed player, McElroy, and Sanchez will have a competition for the Starting Job, 2nd, and 3rd. If a new coach can fix Sanchez, and get him to work in this new system, and he wins the job then I'm all for it. If Rex goes into next year with the same mentality as last year, Then Ill be rooting for us to loose every game, Rex and all he hires to loose their jobs, and for Woody to loose face and a ton of money as well as be the laughing stock of the whole leauge.
He has to start over with the QB situation, and the offense. Fix the O line, and bring in sombody to challenge Sanchez. Woody told us that the best QB will start, regardless of salary. I hope Rex sticks with that.
