The primary reason Fitzpatrick was brought in was to watch film with Geno and teach Geno how to make a first and second read in Gailey's offense.

Bowles and Gailey know Geno is dumb as a stump, so they brought in a Harvard guy to teach Geno how to read.

The entire organization knows that the QB who is going to lead this team deep into the playoffs is not yet on the team.

Unless, of course, Bryce Petty pans out.

But, that's at least two years down the road.

How did we miss out on Glennon? Has he been traded and nobody knows? Maybe Tampa wants to hold him on as a backup. Teams arent just gonna give away a young QB for what we think should be a 4th-5th round pick.

Guys like Glennon and Cousins should go for atleast a 2nd round pick. I dont think there are teams out there just calling QB-needy teams ready to trade away a future NFL starting QB for a crapshoot mid rounder.

If anything we missed out on Foles. That is a guy that could've done some legit things in our offense.

Sorry, but I totally disagree. I think you're wrong in every instance. Fitz had some of his best seasons under Gailey. Gailey was not a good HC and they had no D, but Fitz played pretty darned well under Gailey.

Austin Davis is NOT the answer at QB, either. Was he definitely available? If so, what was his asking price? While he's not the answer as a starter, he's better than Case Keenum or the rookie Mannion. I find it hard to believe that they would have traded him. If they have him rated #3 behind Keenum or Mannion, that's even more reason not to have wasted a draft pick trading for him. They need a backup and isn't Foles coming off a fairly serious injury? Mannion won't be starting there any time soon.

Similarly, Glennon is NOT the answer at QB either. Again, I'm not sure TB would have traded him as they will need a backup/insurance in case Winston struggles.

In any event I wouldn't have given up a draft pick for either of those guys. I'd rather have Petty.

You're wrong about Simms. He won't even be on the team come the end of TC. Geno probably isn't the answer, but we don't know that yet. Many QBs struggle their 1st two years, especially when thrown to the wolves when they weren't ready. At least he still has his confidence. While I have extreme doubts about his developing into a quality, consistent starter, he may become a decent stop gap or backup. The Jets would have taken Petty anyway. If you listened to Bowles and Mac at all prior to the draft, they said that they planned to add another QB to the mix. Until you know you have your guy at QB, you keep looking hoping to get lucky.

One thing's for certain...until they prove me wrong, I trust Mac and Bowles a whole lot more than I do you or any other Jets fan (including myself).

I vote none of the above.

If we really want the giant douche or the turd sandwich that you are wishing we traded for I really don't see why we couldn't make a trade for either one of them later this season or even pick them up as free agents when their current teams (which have starting QBs) let them go to free agency.

The new front office has solved most of our major problems outside of QB for one simple reason:

There were no really good options for us to address the QB position this year.

While I do not think Fitz or Petty is the answer I do believe we threw more than enough assets at the QB position for now.

Rome wasn't built in a day kids, we will get our QB down the road.

"They know Geno is as dumb as a stump."

That's pretty ridiculous. I didn't know you could determine his IQ by watching him play football. He's a young quarterback. Young quarterbacks, especially coming out of the system he did, have trouble adjusting to going through a progression. Having a mentor is perfectly fine and normal. It's a very regular occurrence.

You needed a "none of the above" option in your poll.

I can see some people on here get pissed if the Jets win super bowl just because they didn't get a high draft choice.

Either of those guys are no better than adding a Matt Moore...

They gotta give Geno a shot in a offense that should favour him.

Totally agree here - we need to find out if Geno with all the weapons he has and a new regime (understand offence is less complex than Marty's last year) can get it done - not just a glimpse at the back end but over the whole season. Of all the QBs on the roster he has the highest ceiling (Petty may be similar but needs work). He has a far better ceiling than Fitz who is a known commodity - if Geno fails in TC he can step in rapidly.

Will not even respond on where I think we would be if we tried the options mentioned as neither QB has a better ceiling than Geno

We can wish for better options but to date I like the way Macc and Bowles have upgraded the roster without making too many OTT signings (Revis was this move but I still liked).

Like others I am OK with this and willing to trust the Macc and Bowles

so are you saying the Jets whiffed hard bc they didn't go after Austin Davis, Mike Glennon, or draft Mannion instead of Petty?
Come on, we're counting peanuts at this point.

I hope the same thing, as long as some are rated in and fall to the teens or low 20s. I hope that we're nowhere near the top ten unless we trade up.

With Geno Smith having almost 65% of your votes, it only makes sense to think most misunderstood the question or you are a Geno fans to a fault. I can't imagine so many of you being that big of Geno Smith fans, with the fact he has had the lowest QBR of all starting NFL QBs for the last two seasons. He is the main reason we have lost games over the last two years and he have even been benched five times. Every other team in the NFL if having the worst QB two straight seasons, would get a new QB before the start of the third. Smith is nothing better than a coach killer!

The idea of the question was if you could have any of the four people listed, which one would you want?

I would want Davis or Glennon, and Fitz would be my third choice. Fitz was having his best year last season and he does know the offense, Add in our defense will be incredible and even Fitz could win more than he loses. Smith is the bottom of the basement and I would rather throw Petty to the wolves or give Simms a hot than start Smith.
