Good. Hope they keep the Jets in the middle of the pack or drop them lower. This team is much better when they're pissed off and trying to prove people wrong. Anyone following the team should see this by now.
fuck!!!! Guess we can count out getting voted into the Super Bowl now. thus is really going to hurt our recruiting.
I've been enjoying reading all the "experts" tell us that the Bills just aren't that good, after they picked the Jets to get beat at home. The rankings mean diddly after 1 week, but watching all of those guys abandon the "Bills are a playoff team" bandwagon has been hilarious.
when have the power rankings ever meant anything? they have zero effect on the season and are always meaningless. even at the end if the season they have no meaning when they rate the teams based on the entire season.
means absolutely nothing in pro sports. keep rankings for college where they matter... i don't pay attention, but where were the giants in the power rankings after week 17 last year @ 9-7? I'd be pretty confident in guessing GB and NE were 1-2. where did that get them?
Well put. It seems to me a lot of the media wants it both ways when it comes to the Jets/bills. Before the game, the Jets were an embarrassing circus, a disgrace, a team with a toxic and potentially fractured locker-room, a team primed to showcase a historically inept offense by season's end. Meanwhile, the bills were a young, upstart team on the rise. The bills were a team with a dominant defensive line that was going to punish the porous Jets offensive line. The bills were a team finally primed to compete for a wildcard spot (something they haven't actually achieved in over a decade, btw). The Bills were an overtly trendy pick, by experts near and far. And after the Jets crush the bills? Oh, it was no big deal. The Jets were supposed to beat the Bills. The Bills suck. Fitzpatrick is terrible. He's an abomination and irrefutably one of the worst quarterbacks in the league (Wasn't that Sanchez before Sunday?) The Jets didn't prove anything. We all thought the Jets were better than the Bills (even though roughly 90% of us picked the Bills to win the game outright, and many of us picked the Bills to replace the Jets as the prime contenders to the Pats for AFC East supremacy) It seems to me that many in the media are being blatantly intellectually dishonest by refusing to give the Jets any credit for dismantling the Bills, despite all of their predictions suggesting the exact oppose would occur.
except that isn't what is happening. there is a huge difference between the "experts" saying they were completely wrong about the Bills, who do suck, and saying they are changing their tune about the Jets. they can admit they were wrong about the Bills without saying the Jets are some dominant team. there is no reason to confuse the two.
The experts strick again! I think the Browns are better.Dumbasses. I agree let them keep disrespecting us. As Bart Scott would say...Fuck the media
Agreed. The rankings mean nothing this early in the season. Keep this team thinking they have a chip on their shoulder and our play will only go up from here.
I'm not looking for them to anoint the Jets as "some dominant team", but rather, I'm highlighting the inherent irrationality and inequity in not giving the Jets an ounce of credit for crushing a team many of those "experts" (and clearly, by my context, my intention is to have that word to be interpreted rather sarcastically) believed would, in point of fact, crush the Jets. It just seems inherently illogical and unfair to me to see most members of the national sports media attribute the game's results to 100% Bill ineptitude and 0% Jets execution, where the truth is very likely somewhere in the middle.
The power rankings are a pretty accurate reflection of the power level of the teams from about the end of the first quarter of the season on. There are some changes that occur but the majority of the teams in the top 10 don't drop out after that point and the majority of the bottom 10 don't rise out of that section either. I think the accuracy of the rankings as early as the quarter mark is now likely to be a lot less than it was before because teams in the middle third are going to have a lot of incentive to pull off deals before mid-season, mainly with teams in the bottom third. I expect more teams to rise out of the middle third into the top third as a result of this. I think the top of the standings is now going to be less firm than it used to be and this is going to be reflected by the top third of the power rankings being less firm at mid-season than they usually are.
who cares - those clowns predicted bills would kill us plus rather fly under the radar...this is just fine...ranks us lower!
two of the Bills turnovers that led to 14 points were on poorly thrown balls (Wilson's INT and Cromartie's), so even though the Jets took advantage they were Bills mistakes that set them up. basic statistical analysis requires a large enough sample size to draw a conclusion from. at this point there isn't a large enough sample size to draw any conclusion of whether it was the Bill's mistakes or the Jets play that was the main factor in the domination, especially when the game got out of hand early because of two Bill's mistakes. point is there is no reason to alter your opinion either way of the Jets, whether you think they are better than you thought or may still be as bad as you thought, on one single game of the season, so to get worked up over the reasonable position to wait and see is silly. and not drastically moving the Jets up after one week is simply wait and see.
The odds for the Jets winning the superbowl also went from 40/1 to 33/1. I hope you guys got your $5 in last week although it'll probably keep going down, so if you haven't, get er done!!
Total disrespect, but I love it. This just adds fuel to the fire and the Jets will motiviate from this. I mean seriously, the fucking Chargers are ranked ahead of the Jets? The Lions? It'll be nice to see that nice upward movement during the full course of the season
