I love these posters who don't want to count stats unless they are last years stats against a weak schedule where they went 10-6, didn't make the playoffs, and blew the last game against a mediocre team that only finished 8-8 because they beat the Jets in a game the Jets had to win. Of the 60 team records in the AFC this past five years, only 7 were 10-6, and 6 of them made the playoffs, but can you make it to 10-6? The Jets only made it to 10-6 once in the last five years. I agree that Fitz is good enough if the team around him is good enough. Here are some more stats, the records of the AFC playoff teams the last five years: 2015: 12-4,12-4,10-6,9-7,12-4,11-5 2014: 12-4,11-5,10-5-1,10-6,11-5,12-4 2013: 12-4,11-5,11-5,13-3,11-5,9-7 2012: 12-4,10-6,10-6,12-4,11-5,13-3 2011: 13-3,12-4,12-4,9-7,10-6,8-8 9-7 gets you in only if you are in a weak division (Hou 2015, Den 2011) or the rest of the AFC stinks (2013 AFC west blew away most of the rest of the AFC). 8-8 gets you in if you are in a real stinker of a division (AFC west 2011). In order for the Jets to get in, they have to go at least 8-8, so your optimism has to be based on whether you think they can do that against this schedule, and there is going to have to be a whole lot of mediocrity in the rest of the conference. With the schedule they have, they are going to have to be better than NE, Cin, Pit, Bal, Ind, KC and SD (I assume the Broncos will suck this year). It could happen, there's a 30% chance (based on above winning records) that the Jets could make the playoffs if they finish between 8-8 and 10-6, but I'm not counting on it. Ron
Still waiting for somebody to tell me how Fitz is magic? Oh because he won 5 straight games? That means there a hell of alot of 'magic" QB out there.
No matter how bad you think Fitzpatrick is, even if you're right what does that say about Geno? The jets went out and overpaid Fitz the day camp started so they didn't have to let Geno start. Has that not sunk in for you yet?
It been sunk in before he signed. I knew Fitz would be the Jets starter all offseaon. All I want to know what has he done to get the name FITZMAGIC? It funny not one person can answer that.
At what? Getting way more money then he worth? Choking in big games? Can't stay on a team? Throwing the deep ball? Int's? Sliding?
How about taking a projected 6-10 team to 10-6 finish? How about providing badly needed leadership in the huddle? How about giving fans hope? Does any of these count? Don't you fucking say "no" and then profess Geno's potential based on a meaningless win in game 16 two years ago!
Who gives a fuck what a team is "projected" to do? I'll give you the leadership was needed. Fans hope? So your saying the Jets will make the playoffs this year?
I'm not exactly sure what your point is. Teams change year to year, players get better and get worse. Yes the Jets have a tough schedule on paper. But they were a 10 win team last year who improved in the off season. They are absolutely capable of having another good season IMO. I'm not going to penalize the Jets for playing a weak schedule last season. Thats not their fault.
What a refreshing idea, a Jets QB not named Namath or Testaverde that can regularly complete long throws downfield.
[QUOTE="RonPi, post: 3473893, member: 21 Here is the most telling stat: The number of games where he threw either 0 tds and 0 ints, 0 tds and at least 1 int, or 1 td with at least 1 int, or 2td with at least 1 int is 41. A td-int stat line that consistently looks like 2 1 or 1 2 or 0 1 or 1 0 or 1 1 or 2 2 or 2 3 is not going to win much above 0.500 unless you are playing for the 2000 Rave Ron[/QUOTE] Wtf
