I expect them to be homers, the Jets guys in preseason are too but it was irrittaing seeing them call it the "New Giants Stadium".
What is sickening is our announcers not calling it the new Jets stadium. It's like we are perfectly content being their bitch.
Because it is "new" and it is the Jets stadium. When the first Giants stadium was built that was also called the "new" Giants stadium. New doesn't have to mean second. In fact there is more reason to call it the new Jets stadium as the old on wasn't theirs then there is to call it the new Giants stadium as this is only half theirs.
It is new and it's not Jets Stadium, when the Giants built Giants Stadium it was called "Giants Stadium". At no time has a Stadium been home to the NY Jets been called "Jets Stadium".
It's not the New Giants Stadium but it's a Stadium w/o a name and it is replacing the old Giants Stadium so you can see where they can say that, right?

Banks is a total homer but does have reasonable insight on opposing teams defense. For the most part the telecast was awful. Amazing that in the NY market we have this kind of quality for local broadcasts. The Jets announcers also suck but on balance suck less than the Giants announcers. I laughed when I heard the New Giants stadium comment. I got to give them a small break on this. Nobody would mistake the new Yankee stadium when it was being built, but I suspect Wilpon might have called Citifield the new Ebbets field a year ago? Until the new stadium is named the New Giants stadium while a dig to Jets fans doesn't seem unreasonable. Maybe Ian should call the stadium the new Shea?
why not jusy say the New Meadowlands Stadium until it gets a name? Maybe THE WELLINGTON T. MARA MEMORIAL STADIUM would suit some here.
Carl Banks is one of the biggest disgraces in the NY media market. From his pathetic performance this past week, from his horrendous job on the radio during Giants games, to the boring, lifeless, "guest" appearances on WFAN...he should never be able to grace the radio airwaves or show his ugly ass mug on tv ever again. How this donkey ever got a chance to work in media is beyond me...he brings NOTHING to the table
Wischusen isn't that bad...I did love Howard David...he had some of the best TD calls. Too bad he left us to go work for the Dolphins...
Don't think of it as the proper noun "Jets Stadium", think of it really as the Jet's stadium. Or rather think of it was the stadium for the Jets. Either way it just semantics so I don't see what the problem is.
