The successful model for going to the playoffs with a rookie QB is to make them part of the offense but not the leading role. That's what the Steelers did with Roethlisberger. It's what the Falcons did with Ryan. It's what the Ravens did with Flacco. It's what the Jets did with Sanchez. It's what the Redskins did with RGIII last year. It's what the Seahawks did with Wilson last year. It's the normal thing to do. Pass 45% or thereabouts, run 55% or thereabouts and then if the defense is good enough you make the playoffs. There are a few teams that have let their rookie QB play more of a role, notably Peyton and the Colts, Luck and the Colts and Tannehill and the Dolphins. That's not the way to go to the playoffs though. If you let a rookie throw the ball as if he had full command of his game at a young age the only thing that you're likely to wind up proving is that he does not yet have full command of his game. Luck was an exception to the rule but he clearly did not have full command of his game yet. He was just good enough to win games even playing at 80% of his ceiling.
:rofl::rofl: Welcome to TGG Geno. I hope you play lights out and free us from the misery of Sanchez. And please tell Sanchez he sucks
I wish we would of got atleast Bailey... i was praying for Austin though. maybe if Geno IS the future for us,some time down the line we can pick up Austin or Bailey... maybe both the NFL is a crazy business ... look where Revis is now.
If Geno is worth his weight in gold he'll turn Kerley and Hill into weapons and give Holmes a career resurgence.
