only an absolute moron would read some dumb article quoting unnamed sources and believe anything in the article - much less make character judgments about a person based on some dumb article quoting unnamed sources. the writers who write these pieces are complete scumbags as our the papers who post this bs.
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/jets/2013/05/06/geno-smith-new-york-jets/2139785/ Quotes from Geno himself.
What a lying arrogant asshole!!!! the narrative of his constant Diva...ness is widely reported, so we know who the REAL Geno Smith is!! yeah! yeah... 100% complete and total: BUST!!!! tch, be a sponge.... because I want spongebob to be our QB as if.
Wah???? A comparison to a player that doesnt have the same skin color as him? Thats unheard of! Why not compare him to Michael Vick, though?... I know Geno is taller, has better accuracy, isnt as fast or agile (yet still athletic) and seems to have a better football mind, but still... thats just too crazy for me man.
Every time he opens his mouth he sounds like a well spoken, confident and respectful kid. Kind of goes directly against the anonymous sources.
Awesome article, thanks for posting. It's important to keep in mind that this is a 22 year-old kid who was most likely praised constantly by the people around him. He's going from a situation in which he was a superstar at a mid-sized (at best) school in an average conference, to a rookie on one of the most public teams in the biggest sports league in the country. It's going to take time for him to develop as a football player and a human being
Yeah I'm thinking his sarcasm mode was on there. I like what I see out of Geno Smith, both in games and when he's interviewed. That said, I think it's very hard to win an argument with the world before you've thrown a pass in an NFL game. What's happening on the media front is just not fair but Geno really should just ignore it for now and not go looking for more exposure. There isn't anything that he can say that is going to stop the slander campaign. The only way to stop it is to go out and show people that it's not true by his play and/or demeanor next season when the important stuff: games, is happening. I cringed a little bit today when I saw the piece on him having his agent list down to three. Nobody needs to know that and the fact that it got out there suggests that he has somebody close to him talking in ways that do not profit him.
attempting to be, yes... this negative hype is hilarious to me, so mocking it gives me my own personal jollies. I'll try to be more direct next time. *** oh and people are already telling him to shut up, as if he's been a big talker, despite the fact that he's been mostly quiet. a few from what NFL.com has so far: "So let me get this Straight, he doesn't care what people say.So why all the excuses? Diva" he didn't really make excuses just put his take on things from his own mouth. "He doesn't care what people say but he continues to make tweets, draw media attention, and overall respond to what people say. On top of that, making this statement. Just shut up already." he hasn't said anything on it till just now but okay. "Dude, enough. Stop talking, start throwing!" once again he hasn't really been saying much but I can see where the annoyance comes from given how much the conversation and interpretation of his actions has been done FOR him. this should be fun, I can't wait for him to have a decent playoff run one day.
I didn't like that either considering we never hear about where a player plans on signing unless its with Jay-z's agency. But it was nice to know that 3 top agencies were vying for his representation
the 24 hour news cycle baby, the loud ass chopper coming down the street you can't help but notice. this is so insane. nobody else gets this kind of attention(except tebow) but the media gets what it wants. anything to fit the ole narrative.
One really good question he could have asked them as he was interviewing them was: "should I put the fact that I'm down to a few finalists out there or hold it close for now?" The answer to that would have told him a lot about who could do effective damage control and brand promotion.
geno is saying all the right things, lets hope he can make the right moves on the field fuck the media for pouring onto a fucking rookie like this with anonymous sources really unprofessional
somebody should write an article along the lines of, jets fans support geno smith, say fuck you to anonymous sources
i love the irony of the whole thing. people who don't want to ruin their reputtions are anonomously ruining this kids reputation. awesome
seriously gang green nation should run a piece about how the fans arent buying this bullshit quote a bunch of us from this forum and get it out there so its at least known by the team that the fans are behind them. i just hate how they are trying to ruin this kids career before it even starts.
yeah im starting to feel bad for the kid like im 19 and i understand geno is 3 years older than me, but if people kept talking about me like that on EVERY fucking sports media outlet, i'd be pissed off about it. he might play pro football, but hes still a kid
dude im 24, hes 2 years younger than me, if the media started goin after me like this and it had a chance of affecting my career id be pretty rattled by the whole situation. hes been in much more pressure filled situations than i have, but still, football situations, not like, media attacking your character situations haha
yeah and the thing that sucks is he can't win. like jeez, all the kid did was come out and say the reports aren't true and he doesn't care about what the analysts say and he gets shit on for it. like i personally think thats a good answer, shows he won't take peoples shit, but the media always just has to belittle people
