I dont see why not. Get him a TE and a WR, and it can happen. Mark my words, the defense will be top 5 next year. If the offense does anything, the Jets will make the playoffs.

Just FYI Smith was about the 20th most valuable player in the draft on most boards. He was higher on a few including mine. I'm pretty psyched that the Jets got 1st round value in the 2nd round.

If you look at the presentation issues that Geno Smith has had in the last few weeks they all go back to a vicious attack from an analyst late in the process. Nolan Nawrocki basically tried to make a buck off of Geno Smith by shredding him in a way that he didn't do with any other player.

Remember that and that Smith is only 22 when you start looking at what has gone down recently. I think we have an impression of Smith that he's going to have to work some to change but that impression is as the result of a bully kicking him in the nuts from nowhere.

Stfu about value. Is the object to win the draft, or to win a Superbowl. This was ANOTHER wasted pick, and the worst pick we've made since Gholston. A complete joke. Franchise is set back for years with these draft picks.

Geno looks mentally weak. Missing wide open receivers with a clean pocket is not good. Fumbles way too much.

But for a day 2 pick, can't complain overly much. At least he's sort of an unknown at this point. We all know what Sancho is.

Personally, I would still have rathered we take Nassib. However, a lot of people are high on Smith, and he did have that amazing game earlier this season where he went something like 56-60 and 8TDs/0 picks. I hope this one works out. Now lets get our new QB some weapons.

Anyone know what the cap hit would be on dumping Bumchize this year? God damn, I wish they hadn't extended him last year :(

    Which might be in minicamp.

I would rather have Garrard start too. Sanchez, it's just done for him here. That's obvious. And I don't want Geno dealing with the Revis/New England nonsense the first two weeks of the season.

    why is that?

cut sanchez and going into the next draft we have almost nothing commited salary wise at the QB position. i dont see garrard/smith as a rookie making the playoffs. we would have a shot to get them. and you arent passing on who you think might be a franchise QB cause you took one in round 2 the prior year

And to think people had us taking Geno at #9 or #13 and we got him at #39!

This is either genius or insane, and knowing the Jets I'm suspecting the latter.

Like Sanchez, this guy has all the talent but is a turnover machine. They need to do everything they didn't do with Sanchez.

I'd say there is a 10% chance that he will become a good QB.

He's gonna make Holmes have a career resurgence and make Hill, Kerley and Cumberland into weapons I'm so excited right now. We finally have a QB.
