Geno was thrown into a bad situation all around. The kid has talent. he wasn't ready to start from day one. The team around him hasn't helped much.

Most of the people who hate on Geno are draft "Guru's" who should be writing subscription based scouting material and collecting food stamps and insurance vouchers. Geno threw one INT against Carolina a team that averages more then 1 INT per game. Geno didn't blow the special teams play, Geno didn't blow containment. What Geno was asked to do was bring back the Jets on the road against a very good defensive team. He isn't ready to do that. It's not a reasonable request.

Unfortunately the Jets screwed up another QB rebuild by throwing a kid who isn't ready into the fire. Why because they signed a veteran that is physically unable to perform and Rex is an absolute buffoon for putting Sanchez in during a meaningless scrimmage. Sanchez is a second string quality NFL QB but that would still have been preferable to the gang rape that Geno has been subjected to by the NY Jets coaching staff.

Geno has shown enough to know he needs to be developed. Rex is a win now guy, he doesn't care about developing talent. Ed Reed playing and Alan sitting are another prime example of this.

That's the prime reason Rex is probably going to be fired after this season.

Geno simply can not got through progressions. Greg Cossell said he had "slow eyes" prior to the draft. He was right. Even on the plays that he does well on, there's a 90% chance it was to his first read. He does not use his eyes to manipulate defenders. Hard to be successful in this league when you have these problems.

It would be really interesting to see if any other currently successful QB had these problems and actually fixed it. It seems like a very hard thing to fix.

In 2009 Mark Sanchez had a top 5 run game, O-line, and Defense to work with, with a great receiving corps.

    Mark Sanchez had a 63 QBR with a TD-INT of 12-20
    ---------------------

I don't know in what delusional world you think this performance is "light years" ahead of Geno.

Mark Sanchez having a bottom 5 QB year with the talent around him is about as bad as you can get....

Who is this Greg Cosell? Sounds like someone who should be writing subscription based scouting material and collecting food stamps and insurance vouchers.

Overall Geno has been worse than Sanchez this season. Esp during the 3 game losing streak. His stats were below 10 Qbr which is below the charts bad. But he's looked improved the past two performances. He's worth keeping around but shouldn't have been starting. So keep Geno and let him compete for the starting job in 2014. But sign a veteran good Qb and give him the job if he wins it in training camp. Mark's had over 60 starts and regressed. Don't want him back.

Interesting. You believe a guy who should be selling subscription based scouting material and collecting food stamps and insurance vouchers because he agrees with your view but not those that disagree with your view.

You realize he made that assessment JUST before his 5 game swoon which was some of the worst football ever played by a QB, right? I wonder what he was thinking after 4 weeks of single digit completions?

Into a complete double coverage, nonetheless.

I have to wonder if Sanchez managed to pull off this feat.

Arguing about Sanchez or Smith is like arguing about whether you'd rather I p*ss or sh*t in your mouth.

Can we just let Simms start?

This team needs to really figure out why they are so shitty in so many areas of the game.

I'm getting weary of rooting for a team that continually puts bad product on the field.

And yet you want them to put Matt Simms on the field?

    Really?

Actually, if the pisser drank enough water that day, it could make option A the clear favorite.

Also, shit in your mouth was still showing the same poor accuracy and turnover-prone ways in preseason year 5, which was making my decision easier for sure.

We had one route going past the marker on 3rd and 11?

No, Nelson was also ran a curl route behind the marker on the opposite hash. He was more open than Holmes but it would have had to be a bullet and on time throw. They rushed only 4 and played zone with every defender not rushing at least 5 yards from the LOS essentially handing us the first 5-6 yards. The only play was the check down and hope the WR runs for the first or buy some more time for some one to work their way open behind the marker as the o-line was holding up pretty well. But none of that really matters as Geno made up his mind before the snap that he was throwing it to Holmes.

Alright thanks for clarifying, couldn't see if that was one or two jets at the ground at top of the OL.

yeah this was the play Holmes signaled to Geno before the play started trying to get his attention. Definitely ended up just forcing the throw.

Of course young gun slingers do those things. That has always been the knock on raw QBs with powerful arms. Coaching has to break them of that nonsense and when a QB is especially raw the job is monumental. But heck we had a 4th year QB who would throw the stupidest of INTS right into a defensive linemen's hands. That same experienced QB would make similar mistakes to our very raw rookie including staring at the receiver he was going to throw to. Yet his fan club is salivating thinking he will be our savior next year. Question: will the fan club be as negative with the more experienced QB when he reverts back to looking like a rookie?
