This is MUCH worse than Mark's 2012 for many reasons.

NYG was expected to be a SB contender- their season was done by October.
We were actually not bad before all the injuries last year and still were alive in December

Eli has top 10 weapons to throw to, Mark had the worst healthy weapons any QB has had since the 1995 NY Jets.

Geno looks nothing like mark 2009, Sanchez was light years better than Geno has been this year.

I will say this, Sanchez at his worst doesn't look as bad as Geno at his worse. But Geno at best looked better than Sanchez at his best. That is just how I remember both of their rookie seasons.

It's pretty impossible to compare Sanchez 2009 with Geno in 2013. Mark was playing with a great oline and running game and with better WRs.

The best comparison is probably Sanchez 2012 to Geno 2013 since they had similar personnel. You could even see the regression from Sanchez 2011 to 2012 due to how bad these skill position players are.

Mark had a very good OL, good RBs and good WRs(though Stuckey started 4 games). mark had more talent w/o a doubt but he was also light years better than geno.

even Mark 2012 was significantly better than geno and he had less talent around him(healthy talent) and Tony Sparano running the show.

That doesn't mean geno cannot succeed in this league, I have seen baby steps the last week or 2. let's hope he finishes strong.

A guy that threw a meager 12 TDs and 2,500 yards with 20+ turnovers was not "light years better" than anyone that played the position in the history of the sport. Good god man. Sanchez was put in a much better situation and probably got the team all of 2 more regular season wins when all is said and done. Not to mention, one of those "wins" was an intentional loss by the opponent (Colts game).

You really need to let Sanchez go, as the organization surely will very soon.

Not saying Geno is the future, but your obsession and glorification of Sanchez defies reason.

Yes, because you can equate the Jets talent on offense in 2009 with their talent on offense in 2013 and ignore the fact that the Jets had Sanchez throwing under 20 passes a game in most of the "clean" games.

If Sanchez had had the Jets crew from 2013 around him he'd probably have thrown 30 interceptions.

He was a first round prospect; in all honesty, he was a top 10 prospect. Obviously he hasn't performed to that level, but his performance this year doesn't change history or why we drafted him. Idzik saw something in Geno and waited him to fall for us. It's not as if we grabbed him at the 13 instead of Richardson.

Geno was a steal in the 2nd. At worst, he becomes a career backup.

Yep. In 2009, the D was so good that Sanchez could have 5 INTs in a game and we still yielded only 16 points. In 2013, Geno has 3 first half turnovers in Tennessee, and a mediocre Titans offense turns them into 21 points seemingly within seconds.

Such different situations, as you point out.

in 2009 Sanchez had 20 interception -- 15 in 5 games and 5 in the other 10 games he played.

Geno gives the ball away in 12 of the 14 games - 5 pick 6'sm, fumbles at the goal line, and how many other interceptions deep in jet territory. His interception are not only costly they occur in horrible areas of the field.

He was not and he did not.

He was a top 10 pick when he was lighting up James Madison and Marshall. When the real schedule hit he became what he was- a second round pick in a weak QB draft.

He did not "fall" he was picked where he was supposed to be picked. He was tremendous value at 39 but he was not a steal. Russell Wilson was a steal.

His FIRST pass of the game was intercepted at the 50 and returned inside the 20. Not like that was a punt deep down field. Then he fumbled at his OWN 35 which was returned almost to the redzone. His third turnover was a pick at midfield.

He didn't do the defense any favors with those turnovers- it's not as if Tennessee had to go 80 yards to score each time. Redzone, near redzone and the 50 is why the 21 points were scored seemingly within seconds.

And then there was the buttfumble 2.0.

Not sure the Titan game is the example you were looking for if you were looking for good turnovers.

The behind the back hand switch fumble? Awful---what was the upside of that move?

Jesus Christ another one of these "we won the draft" guys.

Geno wasn't a first round prospect. Just bc Kiper and McShay said so doesn't make it true. Geno was a second round prospect, BC HE WAS DRAFTED IN THE SECOND ROUND.

Picking players bc of some mythical draft slot value is idiocy. You are basically saying "wow, no body thought this guy was worth drafting, when we thought they would want him.....so let's take him!"

And a career backup as a 2nd rounder is an epic fail pic. You cannot throw away second round picks like that. Smfh.

Not sure I totally agree with that. He was a gamble that if panned out would have been a tremendous payoff- a possible franchise guy in the second?

I think this statement completely discredits what MM can do with a QB that has 4 years of experience under his belt.

Geno fell to us yes, but I doubt very much Idzik was wating.

How can a career backup be a steal in the 2nd round?
