Both of them are averaging less per yard then the did last year and in Ivory's case it ain't close.

The offensive line hit a new low last week in that buffalo game and I think that was the main factor for the loss...Geno's play was terrible but stemming from the O line.

I know how bad Geno has looked but I am willing to take it since this is his first year. I knew it would be like this but it is still easy to forget it and look for other answers.

Morningweg is the best OC we have had in awhile but I am still at a loss sometimes for how he handles the game. The lack of deep balls and play action blows my mind since long balls is the only thing Geno has done well this year.

I also hate how they run the ball with all the delay hand offs that take about 4 seconds to get back to the line of scrimmage. I would love to see quicker runs with more blockers.

The other thing I don't understand is how we always leave Geno with an empty backfield on passing plays when you know he can't pick up corner blitzes off the edge. Best example the Bengals game. I think the play calling has hurt him and that with a shaky O line and an always changing wrs corp could rattle any rookie QB..

no mention that last year Ivory had a total of 40 carries while he has 107 this year? or the fact that he had Drew Brees and the Saints pass game that Ds focused on.

Powell has been playing HURT and his YPC has gone down in recent weeks, a year ago he averaged 4.0, right now 3.9 and he's not doing it in garbage time like he did a year ago.

stop watching the giants and start watching the Jets

Geno has 172 yards rushing - 100yards came in 3 games...70 in the other 7. if he was constantly running for his life he should have a lot more yards, but his inability to make a quick decision - be it throw, step up, roll out, or scramble.

In his last 4 losses he has 9 rushes for 23 yards. You would think in those games he would try to make something happened with his legs, but the guy just isn't a running QB and he doesn't even seem to be a very mobile QB at times.

The playoffs wins were because we played well as a TEAM. Mark didn't put the team on his back. He played a good role on this team and did what was asked.

1 start against St. Louis doesn't erase the things he did to hurt the football team, I know the team was shit but he could of done things to help stop the bleeding. We ran screens in the past and he couldn't complete them.

It's definitely not a million times better you are insane to think so. WFH put a wrench in the Jets plans in 2011, but this line as a whole in 2013 is under performing. One minute it's Brick, next it's Winters. As a collective unit they are below average.

He's clearly getting hit and sacked at a pretty good clip. I agree he's not a running QB but he has run effectively in a couple of wins.

I think he is a pretty mobile QB but he doesn't have much of an idea how to step up in the pocket. When you don't do that and it collapses into you it's hard to break containment. When he has gotten out of containment he clearly can run with anyone. Teams are clearly adjusting to what he did early.

That would be a really good Oline.

a million times better may be an exaggeration but it is better by a pretty good margin.

I know what you meant by "million". I'm not stupid junc. This line really isn't that good. I still see defenders in the back-field 2 to 3 seconds in, I still see missed assignments.

Peyton Manning would be dead behind this line, he takes about 3 seconds to get rid of the football.

It's not the Hogs from the 80s or the Cowboys OL of the 90s but it is not a bad OL. I see most of the issues coming from an unsure, developing, young QB than I do from the actual OL.

You can go scrounge up the stats for Qb rushing. I don't think Smith ranks that highly. It certainly is a small percentage of the overall rushing total. TB was one game.

Does Mangold and Geno, not call the protections? How does an issue arise from a young QB, if the defenders are in the back-field less then 3 seconds in?

I agree the blame should be spread around, but as Geno continues to learn the NFL - the offensive line needs to do a better job.

You call it cherry picking. I explained my post, and rather than respond you make this post. Which makes no sense. I at least used stats, and so why should not I criticize someone who does not use stats?

Speaking of which, I will talk to you next when you come up with something of substance, which as far as I can tell will be the first time. If it happens.

Do you have any stats that support the implication that the Jet OL allows penetration more quickly than other OL's?

It's not ALL on Geno but you can see his hesitation, struggling to read defenses and knowing where to go w/ the ball.

Now I understand why you get called Blockhead so often. You select a couple of ground game stats that suit your theory, ignoring passing down stats that don't. There's only one OL - they have to do both and they're not doing it better than 26 teams.

Check the "Top 5 Offensive line thread" check the pass-protection information. This was already mentioned. We have to go off of something and those statistics usually are widely considered as the "best"

So what you are saying is the offensive line is not completely pulling their weight? That it's not all on Geno? Again, the Bills game we got DOMINATED at the LOS. Defenders were in the back-field in a blink of an eye.

The Bills game we got killed on blitzes, Pettine confused the heck out of Geno like we used to do to opposing QBs early in 2009.
