Kyle Boller could make throws from anywhere, Blaine Gabbert could make throws from anywhere, a ton of qbs who people have never heard of can make throws from anywhere Can you make those throws with a man in your face and defensive back draped over your receiver?
You're probably one of those guys that hates Manziel with a different spin. He does pretty well against Bama. Teams getting blown out in fictional match ups mean nothing- it's a fraudulent argument. The guy is a GREAT QB with all of the physical tools and gifts. If he played at FSU or Bama he'd be one of the greatest QBs in NCAA history. Your point is silly. Team v team in college doesn't tell you the story of individual players. If Louisville were playing Bama, how do you think Teddy would do and he's the best QB in college? Edit: I mean how do you think Louisville would do? They'd get crushed but Teddy would still have a day. _
So an extra year at Oregon run run run and a throw to wide open receivers is going to make him not Blaine Gabbert. I saw both those guys play in college, can't believe you're comparing them to Mariota:rofl: Have fun with your spin. _
Guys this is Geno Smith topic if you wanna talk about prospects go to the draft section , unless you comparing em to him.
I would take Manziel over Mariota 7/7 days and twice on sundays, Oregon's team is really good, extremely fast, but you need elite level qb play to compete with FSU and Bama. Bridgewater would get his, but Louisville would get trucked, the defense is sieve
Sorry, someone started mentioning other QBs coming out this year and how or whether that would or should effect the evaluation of Geno. Not sure why it's not an appropriate topic for this thread. Are we allowed to talk about potential vet back-ups here or is that inappropriate for your tastes also? _
I like both of them- you dislike Mariota but like Manziel and there are folks here that think Manziel is a 7th rounder  I think they are both elite, Mariota has the size Manziel lacks. _
What sticks out to me, is Manziels ability to play big time against big time opponents. His team overall is worse than Oregons yet they nearly beat Bama and had over 500 yds total offense while doing it. The lack of size scares me, but if sits for season or half of one he can do damage. Same with Mariota, he has the physical tools to be really good, but I think he needs to sit for a while and watch how a vet does things. Cardinals would be a good team for him, he is fairly close to hawaii and he can watch Carson Palmer (who really isnt that good) but serviceable.
You are free to talk whatever you wanna talk but to fully apreciate the threat it should stick on topic assuming Geno is a x and we are comparing y to z dont see how that improves the quality of the thread. Im just saying from the user point of view its more enjoying if the thread is completly on topic that you can read up and discuss it. Just my 2 cents lol
Manziel is not getting past Dallas. No way Jerry Jones is letting that kid, that celebrity, get out of Texas. Sit a few years behind Romo and he'll take off. I'm done now, don't want to be scolded by Reuben again. It's too hurtful and makes me sad. _
I saw Boller a bunch in school, never thought he was very good, didn't understand the draft pick. Just went back and looked at his stats. His completion % by year: 38.6%, 46.7%, 49.1% and 53.4%. Sounds JUST like Mariota  _
Folks are suggesting he needs to sit and learn and get bigger and stronger. And Romo has been known to get hurt. Manziel would own whatever part of Texas he doesn't already own if he went there  _
I say we waste the number one draft pick on one of the many special QBs in this draft. They are supposed to be perfect aren't they? Then instead of releasing Sanchez we keep him. We take the starting job away from Geno and let things simmer in the paper. That should help the situation greatly.
You absolutely do have to spend a 1st or 2nd round pick to get a blue chip prospect. They dont fall past the 1st round typically, and we were lucky to get one in the 2nd. Here you go- http://www.nfl.com/draft/story/0ap1...iers-elite-prospects-blue-chips-and-red-chips Geno was considered by many a blue chip prospect. Generally, only first round players are blue chip prospects. Sure, you draft a QB in the 4th or 5th, but you are basically just throwing shit at a wall and hoping something sticks. So no, I dont think adding a 5th rounder for "competition" sake is not worth it. Matt Barkley was a 4th rounder I believe, and he was horrible in his short time while playing. As much as I hate the Matt Simms talk, he is probably better than any 4th or 5th round pick we could draft. If Geno is to compete with anyone, it would be him, not some low draft pick. Also, Its confirmed that you have a hard time understanding what I have written. I clearly said that many of his mistakes are inexcusable. Meaning they are on Geno Smith. I didnt put most of the blame on the WRs. Thank you.
I throw up every time I read your exclamation point laden posts!! ! ! It's as if your "!" key is stuck! ! I haven't seen this many !!! since my younger daughter was in 4th grade!! !!! _
