No, Geno put the ball behind his back and used his own man ass. Unlike Sanchez, Geno knew the ass was there and did it anyway. With that being said, it is not a butt fumble competition. Each was special in its own way. Seriously, stop fighting me on Geno's butt fumble, it does not help the pro Geno case.
+1 a thousand times! I think we are dealing with a SANCHEZ fan and they only use selective stats to try to denigrate Geno so their boy can stay a Jets QB. IMO it is the only thing that matters to these Sanchez fans. Maybe they will follow Mark to the CGF where he belongs.
Since no positive case can be made for Suckchez, why bother denigrating Geno? Geno was moving the ball away from an on rushing Dlineman. Sucky stupidly ran into the butt of his own lineman because he was nervous he'd get hit and his pretty little head band would break!
Please be easy with these Suckchez fanboys. They need to make a case against Geno so that their hero with the girly head band can stay a Jet! So now they are trading Geno for a pick and drafting another QB who they will turn against in a NY minute all so that Sucky stays in NY. It seems on the up and up! My hope is that these types of alleged Jets fans follow SUCKCHEZ to the CFL next year and we won't see them posting this gibberish again!
Who said anything about Sanchez? Geno may yet develop into a franchise performance but right now he is about 25th among NFL starting QBs. Perhaps some of us are impatient but every year we lose good players to age, retirement, injury, or contract demands. Our best players on the D-line are young but in a few years the current window of opportunity will be closed. My problem with Geno is that he turns the ball over and seems to be the most responsible for us losing every other game. I had good things to say about him this week because we got the good Geno who holds onto the ball and gets us the win. It amazes me how many people take my posts out of context because they can not be bothered to keep up with the thread yet somehow they have all the answers.
Sanchez had as many rushing TDs as Smith has at this point in his rookie season -- i took pure passing stats. Smith is not a running QB - he will run at selective times. The guy has 8 TD passes through 9 games. He isn't scaring anyone, teams are going to start doing what they did to Sanchez - crowd the line and dare him to beat them. Will Smith be able to stretch the field? Will this deep ball people keep talking about ever show up again? 8/19 - that is an awful passing day. The 8 completion traveled 7 yards in the air. This does not make anyone think well this guy is the future. It make syou think well this guy is not making mistakes to make us lose - that is what you say about your backup when he has to play because your franchise qb is out.
when you see a QB come in and play a practically identical season to the last rookie #5 pick the team invested 4 years you have to say well are they just repeating the same thing they did 4 years ago. The team is melting back to ground and pound, defense, and trying to win in spite of their young QB. If you hate Sanchez there is nothing Smith is doing that says well this guy is different!
What the hell do you know anyway? You have not made any substantial case to support your claims. All you can do is insult anyone that disagrees with you. In case you haven't noticed, there is an in depth, sometimes off topic conversation about the performance of our starting QB that has been going on all season. As I am going to correctly guess from your comments that you have read less than 5% of this thread I would say that you are the moron.
Give the man a cigar. I hope it is different this time, I really do but man does this guy scare the crap out of me when he is on the field.
The Jets are likely to have an interesting question to deal with this off-season. Do they think Geno can be developed to be a much better QB than he has shown so far if he has the right pieces around him in the offense? It'll be fascinating watching them work on this. I'm looking at the Jets right now and thinking that Andrew Luck wouldn't be much better off as a rookie than Geno has been. The other options in the offense just aren't there at the moment. No Winslow, no Holmes, Kerley now out. You have to have somebody to throw to that you can count on and right now the Jets have nobody in that role. Mark Sanchez absolutely collapsed in his rookie year after Jerrico Cotchery went out. He didn't decline a little, he fell off a cliff. And he had Braylon Edwards and Dustin Keller to throw too.
Sanchez became more of "The Guy" not by throwing 12TD in the regular season it was his playoff performance...big time, show up, play his best ball on the road against Palmer, Rivers, and Manning. People saw that and said well this guy loves the big lights or pressure moments and played his best games. Problem in he never really carried that consistency over to the first 16 games of the season. Showed flashes of greatness and flashes of awfulness. Sound familiar?
Sean peyton gived a lot of credit to Geno Smith on the post conference , he said Geno called a audiable quick screen when they had a overload blitz coming , and the run for the TD was a great decission as well him doing a great cut and being a good athelete. http://www.nfl.com/videos/new-orleans-saints/0ap2000000275751/Saints-postgame-press-conference
Sanchez looked terrible in several games in 2009. Not bad the way Geno has but just completely clueless terrible. This despite having a functional run game all year long and a defense routinely holding the opponent under 20 points and an offensive line that really wasn't allowing much pressure. You just can't compare Sanchez and Geno at this point. They haven't had the same opportunity to show themselves. In a year you may be able to compare them better when the sample size is bigger. Watching Sanchez in the Bills game where the Jets rushed for 300 yards and he threw 5 picks and so they lost anyway was one of the low points of my Jets fandom and there have been some very low points over the years.
Luck would do better than Geno for one simple reason he has better fundamentals. Geno at this point in his career is limited. He does not play well from under center and that is not good in a WC offense. He will get better but he is a project with raw talent. Stop with the Sanchez comparisons he took his team to the AFCC game his rookie and played his best in the playoffs lets see what Geno can do. Geno is getting better in his fundamentals and I have actually seen him step-up in the pocket a few times now. He is a long way from being a "good" QB.
Well duh......... are we now comparing expectations of Geno vs the highest rated QB prospect to enter the draft since Manning?
I have seen Chad Pennington and Mark Sanchez make nice TD runs too. He called an audible to a screen..that is your big this guy is the real deal moment?
Of course you can compare -- the guys are doing the same damn thing. Low TD passes, a coupe of TD runs, high interceptions, fumbles, looking good at times and clueless in others, relying on a strong running game and a solid defense to win games. This is an exact replica of 2009.
You mean the 12 for 23 for 100 yards 1TD 1INT against SD or the 0 points put up in the second half of the Colts game?
