With the exception of the Sanchez lovers and those with an agenda against Geno which might prevent them from admitting the situational truth. There isn't an objective none Geno hater who would admit that the 2009 team would have had a bye, a home playoff win and a SB win if Geno had been our QB in 09. Tell me I'm wrong. You and I both know it, no matter how much you would have hated it Geno wins us a SB in 09.
we have as much offensive talent now as we had in 2009 and he'd have a different OC so he wouldn't be throwing as much so the yardage and Tds would be down. I would say we'd have a similar record as 2009, we'll see if he can elevate his game w/ better talent(hopefully) next year like Mark did in 2010. Let's hope we keep getting him talent rather than do what we did w/ Mark by removing all the talent he had to work with.
I think we would have won every SB from 2009-current if Geno was our QB, too bad we couldn't get him in 2009 as a teenager.
Would have depended on how they treated Geno. Our line play was obviously way better back in 2009(run blocking at least). Receivers are about the same. Running game was obviously much better in 2009. Geno's a better down the field passer than Sanchez was, clearly....but Mark also played in more of a pro se coming out of USC. His mechanics were better than Geno's as a rookie. Geno has more talent, so I think we'd have had a better passing game than 2009, if they let him throw it.
I heard that toddler Geno had tremendous footwork and pocket presence but struggled against quarters coverage.
It's not really close. The talent on that OL was way better with Faneca and Moore in addition to Brick and Mangold. The running game was superior with Thomas Jones, Leon Washington, Greene and Richardson as a blocker. A young healthy Dustin Keller was an upgrade at TE. Geno would've had way more protection and talent to work with.
While Geno is definitely playing better and showing more upside, I think the results end the same...... The Colts could've gone undefeated that year, the game still would've been in Indy, The CBs & RBs still get hurt..... but they have more of a punchers chance in a shootout WHAT?!?! you gotta be kidding me
The OL was better but our OL is good now, the RBs were even, the WRs are better on this team. Remember, we had Chansi Stuckey starting the first 4 games and brought in Braylon a month into the season. Slight edge 2009 and that includes the QB who was better.
Geno made a couple of bad passes but that defense was good and we could do nothing on offense, defense or special teams. Beat everywhere and the team especially sucked in the secondary
this is a hard sell. peyton carved up the defense in the second half when he learned everyone but revis could be beat. i don't know how switching geno and mark stops that
We had a lead. With Geno we have a bigger lead and Geno matches Payton score for score in the second half. Plus it's a home game.
We had the No. 1 D in the league, the No. 1 rushing O in the league. The best OL in the league. We beat the Colts head to head and we would have gone 14 and 2 with a competent QB. Geno in high school takes that team to the SB. Another agenda ridden Sanchez suck up. I'm tired of it.
I haven't seen anyone excusing Geno for his bad throws. Geno played poorly yesterday and made a lot of bad throws. The point here is that the Jets did not lose the game because of Geno's poor throws. The Jets played poorly on both sides of the ball, in all facets of the game. You cannot reasonable say, "if the jets had (insert average QB here) playing yesterday, the Jets win that game". This is in stark contrast to the Sanchez years, when many, many of their losses were exactly that. All other factors being the same, we lose yesterday no matter who was playing QB for the Jets. I know we would all love to have a world beater like Brees, but at this point I'm happy with a QB who isn't so terrible that he is single-handedly throwing away 3-4 wins a year. Is Geno this guy? Who knows, the book is still out on Geno, but he has shown flashes of good play, and I like his resilience and passion for the game. Will he ultimately get better, have the game slow down, and become an effective, efficient QB every game, or go in the other direction and end up on the trash heap with Muck? It's too early to tell, let's give him some time and watch some more games before we make a judgement either way.
