college is not the same -- in college he had 2 elite receivers that were much better than most teams could defend...in the pros guys are a lot closer, balls have to be more precise, and he doesn't even seem close to doing that on a regular basis
If the Jets had an acceptable veteran option he probably wouldn't be playing right now. They didn't have the cap space to create that option at the point in the season when they might have found somebody to take the snaps for the rookie until the bye. They went and got Garrard on the cheap but he was iffy and then out.
Jets fans need to stop being paranoid. Just because Sanchez failed after being a day 1 starter, doesn't mean Geno will fail too.
Well, it put Geno in a deeper bind. I think we're 1-3 right now with you know who starting. I don't think we'd have won the Bucs game with him starting. Might not have won the Bills game either. They're not very good but they are on again off again this season so far.
Sanchez has absolutely nothing to do with it. Many just want to chalk up yesterday to a learning experience, but there are only so many learning experiences a kid can have before he's a basket case. I want to give him every opportunity to succeed, and right now, the best option for his long term development might be to ride the pine.
Maybe. I just question if these 4 games have had a positive effect on Geno long term or if he/we would've been better served sitting. I know it's foolish to speculate on this since there is no way of knowing, but many would consider me a fool for liking this team for 40+ years. I'll shut up and hope for good things in Atlanta... gulp.
No doubt he was playing with receivers who were elite relative to the competition in college. Tavon too is looking less than elite in the pros however. The point tho is that he still had to make the throws in college and he seems to have been able to do that. And he looks to me to have better than the area code accuracy that the guy in Buffalo (that many seem to like) has. Certainly there is a big difference between what you can get away with in college for accuracy and what is required in the pros, but I think it is a little early to conclude that he will be unable to get there.
At this point you have to stick with him. I could understand if they had him sit to begin the year. But we're 4 weeks in we have no choice now. I don't mind benching him for a half. The only way you can validate a benching is if he's Ryan Lindley horrible for a few games in a row.
Calm the fuck down everyone...He is a rookie not a 4th year starter. Even Peyton was terrible his rookie season
That is the most inelegant concession speech ever but I'll accept your acquiesensce. You're welcome. _
Geno starting is the best thing that could have happened for the Jets. We get a year to evaluate him, and if he's not the answer the Jets can look for a QB in next years draft or free agency.
LOL, I grew up on LI and I've been tri-state since 1985. Syracuse for 7 years, Haters blinded by hate--it's okay, it's your right. _
