Part of what you are referring to is that Jenks's assessment was, as we all can see, more comprehensive than what Namath said. But on what he said, you are not being fair. I didn't understand him to say that Ryan should shut up. I think he was critical of the players' apparent lack of preparation, and that he questioned whether telling them over and over how great they are really helped or hurt.

The similarity is that both think the team is not approaching the game with proper preparation. Namath was focusing more on Ryan, while Jenks focused more on Schotty, Callahan and Sanchez. I don't think that is all that material a difference, since Kris knows Callahan and Schotty work for Ryan.

I don't need to be gratuitously insulted like that. Have a nice day.

Even when brady shits the bed he throws tds. That 4 int game of his came with three tds.

The only thing brady and sanchez have in common is its not entirely insane to question their sexuality

Maybe they can shop for white pants and uggs. And end the day taking in some broadway.

    I don't get this discussion.

I appreciate a candid critique by someone who was recently removed from the Jets' locker room.

Jenkins genuinely enjoyed his time here, I doubt his intentions are malicious. The same applies to Namath.

Jenkins' critiques strike me as someone who feels passionately about the Jets and is taking the shit he sees going on to heart. Namath just strikes me as someone who wants to stay relevant and in the news. But that's just me.

Namath has all these radio shows now. He's basically getting paid to rip the Jets.

Kris Jenkins was just on the gang green radio show

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/nyjets...reen-sports-show-w-former-ny-jet-kris-jenkins

He was asked why does Schotty have a job?

FIRST, he laughed at the question (it was pretty funny)

He said its in part because his dad was a coach, but he didn't make too big a deal about that

The other thing he said was Schotty could be buddy-buddy with some front office management

I though he was talking more about Tannenbaum than Woody.

He was very critical of Schotty, but what was interesting was that he really emphasized the politics of the NFL and how that plays a huge part in the game.

    That surprised me a bit.

He did say if Schotty doesn't change he probably won't have a job too much longer.

    One more tidbit:

He told Mangini in 2008 along with other players at 8-3, hey give us a break and ease up on practices. Mangini asked for their opinions about the team, and then told them why they were wrong.

Favre basically said to Mangini forget you and did his own thing and that's what happened then.

Man do I miss this guy on our team

The Jets are playing poorly, they deserve the criticism. When they play well they will deserve the accolades. Its not exactly a new concept.

So lets get your little philosophy on football commentary straight: in your twisted world its perfectly okay for Jenks to shit on the team and the coaching staff b/c he was chronically injured w/the Jets, spent time in the lockerroom, barely played, barely contributed and didn't achieve jack shit. But nobody else has a right to comment on how lousy the team has been playing - including a HOF QB who is the best player in the history of the franchise and who won the only SB in franchise history and in so doing helped to transform the NFL? The only people who can comment on the Jets are washed up injury prone DLinemen who barely played on the team??? ROTFLMAO !!!!:rofl:

I agree with most of what Jenkins said outside of one thing: I can definitely blame Baxter if he doesn't know the line calls. That's his friggin' JOB to know the line calls, he knows if he's in Mangold won't be there. I don't care if he's a damn rookie, he should do his job of learning what the line calls are. If not, he should just gtfo or else he's on the wrong team.

I have occasionally wondered what the fan reaction would be as Mark Sanchez and Tom Brady sat hand in hand on Ellen's couch as they not only came out of the closet together but also announced their secret love affair to the world.

    Everyone hires their friends.

Todd Haley, IMO, should never be a HC. But Pioli and him grew in this league together for decades under Parcells. So because they're friends, Pioli hired Haley.

Who did Tannenbaum hire his first time out? His friends. Mangini was someone he grew with in this league.

Who does Parcells leave in his place? His own people.

The NFL is a fraternity, and that's just how it is.

I don't think Rex has any ties here beyond his father working for the Jets in the 60s.

Pretty much. BTW I agree w/Jenks & Namath. Difference being that I think they are both free to express their opinions, I don't subscribe to the notion that the only valid criticism can come from a fat washed up DL who sat around the training room and barely played for the Jets.

So who knows more about what Rex says to the team behind closed doors?

Who knows more about the way Shittenheimer prepares in practice, how he adjusts at halftime, on the sideline, etc?

Who knows more about the way the o-line handles line calls and basically everything while preparing for the game?

Would that be the guy who played last year on this team under this coaching staff, or the guy who played for the team 40 years ago? If Namath gives his opinion on what he sees on TV, like he did about Ducasse being a worthless sack of crap, then that's totally fine. But for him to speculate about things he doesn't know about like how Rex prepares, well that holds about as much weight as a post here on the forum imo.

Baxter had hardly spent any time with the team before he got thrown in there, during a game already underway. He had to learn the calls and blocking assignments first before he could know how to make calls himself. He had to get comfortable snapping the ball to Sanchez. He had to learn his overall role in the O.

Which of those should he have spent less time on so that he could also learn how to call the blocking assignments for the OL?
