There's a difference between Jenks saying this type of thing and Namath. Jenks has been in that locker room and knows the team and coaching stuff. It carries a lot more weight than know it all Joe Drunk. He also makes more sense. He's completely on point. About everything. I was saying the past few days how mangold not being able to make the calls is the single biggest reason everyone on the line and sanchez have been in disarray. This confirms it. When Mangold comes back, it'll fix most of those problems
He never said they got rid of all the talent. He said the heart. Intangibles were not accounted for in that decision making process. I agree those moves had to be made for the most part, but this isn't a debate about talent. It's about leadership, resilience and other factors that don't how up in the stat sheet
At this point I'm pissed with Moore for being here 8 yrs and not knowing the OL calls... he should've been the veteran that stepped up...
I don't know if this was posted---Jenkins was on WFAN the other nite with Steve Sommers----he was very candid and said similar stuff . He said the leaders of this team are " gone " . He named Woody--Ellis-and himself and said that the guys who lead MUST COME FROM THE TRENCHES on both sides of the ball. He said that the LB's such as Scott "cannot do it and that the guys up front set the tempo " . He also said that it was a shame that the def was not addressed and that all the MONEY went to offensive skill guys AND THAT THAT WAS FOOLISH ESPECIALLY WHEN THE OFF LINE WAS NOT ADDRESSED. He said that it's nice to pay the WR's and sign guys like Burress and Mason but if Sanchez is making bad decisions, and running for his life that signing those skill guys meant zilch---I paraphrase but thats some of it in a nutshell. I wasd real surprised how honest he sounded and how he did not sugar coat it. If anyone can post that interview it was pretty good and on the money
I know this may sound stupid and girly, but to me it's glaringly obvious that all is not right with the Jets. Something is just 'gone' and I don't think it's that they cut the players with the heart, but that they cut the players that made the team a team. Last year there was constant fun banter among them on twitter, they were having fun on the sidelines, and they all always had each other's backs in the media. That's all been gone for awhile. They don't seem like they are having fun anymore and don't feel like the 'family' they were last year. I agree with the person who said that these loses have nothing to do with talent, it has to do with chemistry ....and I don't know if they can get that back.
He doesn't have a shadow cause he can't even block the sun man Damn, that's one of the best zingers I've heard when it comes to blocking. Jenkins criticisms really make a lot of sense. Thx for posting. Namath's comments last week were totally different. Just a blind dis on the coaching staff preparation when he's got no access to game prep.
why are you so consumed w/ me? Jenkins was posting like a fan, irrational and heated while watching the game. he made some good points, he's not blaming the OC for all the problems like the whiny fans on here.
Not sure it'll fix the problems but it'll definitely be a huge improvement. Mangold has been playing at a high level for multiple seasons but I think because he's not playing one of the "skill positions" he gets overlooked by many. These two last two games have probably given Mangold more props in the eyes of Jets fans than his entire career beforehand.
Call me homer, i don't care, remember '98, started out 0-2, then went up to new england at 2-3 and won. ended up 12-4. i don't think they will win more than 10 games but throwing in the towel now is pansy ass bullshit, so call me a homer i don't fuckin' care,. the boys will straighten out.
Only in the eyes of Jets fans who don't know the game (frankly, a huge percentage of fans). Mangold is a multiple time pro bowler and the best center in the league by quite a large margin. The fact that Tanny has done a shitty job developing backups on the interior line make the loss hurt that much more.
It takes years to develop line depth and Tanny has just let the problem fester; he hasn't acquired good developmental players and Rex/Callahan haven't coached them up. They had one good backup (Turner) heading into the season. That's pathetic. EDIT: I don't mean that Tanny should have been watching film with guys or making them hit a sled or anything, but he didn't get backup linemen the coaches were able to develop effectively.
He seems pretty tough on Vlad there. I know Vlad was pretty bad in the preseason and I do not feel Baxter should have been pulled either, but still. The one negative play I remember when he was in there was a FF by Ngata(?) that led to another Ravens defensive TD. I do not know the assignments on the play, but it appeared to be on D Brick when Ducasse tried to pick up a blitzer. I hope Vlad has improved and I still don't trust him, but I am not going to know if he improved unless he plays.
I hope so. We started out 3-3 in 2009 and made the playoffs. I'm not saying I think 9-7 is good enough this year but the team can certainly bounce back.
Well the line is not very different from last season. But, when you get rid of Mangold there are clearly going to be problems. There was probably a reason why Colin Baxter was not drafted to begin with.
Sure we will get better when Mangold returns. I certainly would hope so. But it will not fix for good the inner problem with the Jets Offense. Jenks is 100% right. Sanchez is still green and there is a lot he can't do. So it is up to Schotty to change his fancy scheme to fit the players and NOT trying for the players to fit into a game plan they are not good at executing. When you are running scared and tying to avoid getting killed there is no time for complex schemes. Make it simple and to Sanchez strenghts for Pete's sake
