I believe that we should've saved our timeouts until closer to the 2 minute warning to relieve some pressure on our defense, but that's just my opinion. The most serious clock issue was our either failure or inability to call clock friendly plays on our last possesion. If you are gonna throw over the middle you better made damn sure that you are getting good yardage, and Schottenheimer failed at that. As for the question of overmatched vs. underprepared, the Jets were a little bit of both. We played great in the second half (and the coaching staff deserves all the credit for making adjustments on offense and refocusing the team during halftime) but you can't come out at home and dig yourself a 24-0 hole in the first half. The Jets looked dumbfounded by the Patriots switching defenses back and forth and they couldn't crack New England's blocking at all. No matter what excuses you want to make, that falls on the coach.
Note also this latest Whitlock piece (which I'll LINK but not repost). Seems this poor bastard Mike Solari, Herm's offensive coordinator, is already being setup as the fall guy. Meanwhile, Jason Whitlock has become Mark Cannizzaro-west.
To be fair to Whitlock, Solari is a total dumbass. The Chiefs don't know how much they are gonna miss Al Saunders as the season progresses.
