People that want normal lives don't star in a purposely controversial advertisement that aired during the second most watched sporting event on the planet. Sorry.
Naw, he's way too much of a ham in front of the cameras, and enjoyed his fame a bit too much to have been secretly wished it all never happened. That, and he still believes he is serving a higher purpose with all this "platform" business. I truly believe he wanted all the attention, but probably never expected it to backfire the way it has. No question this is what he wanted though. moral of THAT story is... be careful what you wish for. One thing I CAN guarantee you though... is that he's no longer excitedly excited, to be excited excited excitedly excited to be a Jet anymore.
You need to let that go. It wasn't controversial. What did the commercial say? "I am happy my mom didn't get an abortion and because of it I am here today... please don't get abortions." Very controversial and hateful. I don't think anyone *likes* abortions even if they are pro-choice.
I wouldn't say the commercial was hateful... But here is what pissed me off about the commercial: It wasn't so much the message. I don't care enough about the abortion debate itself one way or the other to really have a dog in that fight. But it also injected politics around the Superbowl time, which generated controversy even before it was aired. Most of us get into sports as an escape from the every day race religion and politics grind. Next thing I was worried about was some counter ad coming from planned parenthood or something. It didn't happen, but there is a better time and place for that kind of thing than during the Super Bowl.
Are you kidding me? It was mindblowingly controversial. It was talked about for months leading up to the Super Bowl. How can you not remember this? There is an entry in his Wikipedia about it for fucks sake. It was financed by a hate group that pickets gay funerals, and spends most of their revenue on fighting gay rights, not unlike fucking Westboro. Saying that it wasn't a big deal might be one of the dumbest things you've ever said. Next to your prediction of the Broncos not making the playoffs this year, of course.
Didn't they do a John 3:16 commercial when the Broncos got destroyed by the Pats in the playoffs last year? I remember that commercial, Focus on the Family is a hate group disguised as a "holy organization".
