Eagles now own the 10th overall pick Everyone thinks the eagles who now own the rams pick (10th overall) in the draft has better ammo to move up to get mariota. That's not how I analyzed it. I see them sacrificing $ and taking on bradford's contract vs mortgaging their future to get Mariota. If the eagles want mariota they dont have to necessarily trade for him. Chip is probably gambling that jets wont draft mariota and if mariota falls past #6 Chip can get his hands on him at 10 as the other teams that draft after the jets are Bears, Falcons and Giants, none of which need a qb unless the bears move cutler's mega contract prior which I believe is going to be very difficult. Eagles then maintain their future picks all while getting the man they convet to run their system. Downside risk is that another team can trade up to get him but let's be real here no other team will probably take that risk on a not so sure thing in mariota. If chip is going to trade up it would be with the jags or titans but I highly doubt with the jets if chip believe Jets wont want him. I hope Chip trades with us because I want the Eagles future assets (2015 2016 and or 2017 first round picks and filler). And rebuild like the rams. Edit: just found out the initial report on eagles swapping 1st round picks with rams in the Foles/Bradford trade were false so that is good for us
1st round picks did not exchange hands in the Bradford-Foles deal. At least according to the current reports they didn't.
This trade is great news in regards to Jets getting Mariota. The Rams were the team I was most concerned with in trading up, now that is very unlikely. Looks very good if Mariota makes it past 2 he will fall into Jets laps.
chip kelly is taking crazy pills -let a 1000+ yard WR walk -traded top 3 RB in the L for a torn ACL -traded the best QB a 2nd rounder and moved back in this years draft for 2x torn ACL -let another 1000+ yard WR walk. -kept a racist pony-tail on the team.
Just remember I posted this back in March. The Rams and Eagles have completed 2/3's of the trade. Now if Mariota falls to 6, we could make the rest of the deal. I still say we need to get Glennon. I would take Bradford, but that could be risky due to his injury.
no way. I don't see us moving at all now. Philly is stuck with Bradford and STL is happy with foles. they didn't swap first picks.. it's over, philly has nothing valuable left to offer
Okay, Nick Foles for Sam Bradford. WTF is Chip doing? Would someone explain this too me. Is he going to try and pawn Bradford on us?
I'd love Cooper or white but would they be able to play slot for their first year or two ? maybe cooper.. or we could take mariota now just because
It's NOT the college offense or the system that's the problem...it's the QBs themselves. That's where I think you guys who think a spread offense QB isn't worth taking go wrong. You guys want to lump all QBs who don't play in an NFL type offense in college together, and you just can't do that. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Stats alone don't tell the story. You have to actually watch the QBs play, hear what their coaches have to say, look at how they "run" or execute that offense, what their football IQ is like, where most of their passes were thrown, and what their accuracy was like at different distances, what their responsibilities were and if they were calling blocking protections, and had the green light to call audibles at the LOS. You have to evaluate their work habits, character, film study, instincts, consistency, etc. If one has done that, there is no way on God's green earth that you can compare Geno to Mariota. Probably something like 50-70% of Geno's completions were shovel passes or screen passes. The same cannot be said of Mariota.
If the Eagles move up to trade with Tennessee and take MM fine or if the Titans take him fine. If he falls to us and we don't pull the trigger it would be unforgivable
