It's the most important position in ALL of organized sports.

QB is the most important position, by far, but I don't think that means that you should automatically draft one of the top QB prospects if you can and you currently have a bad QB.

I think you have to look at the specific QB. If he's an Andrew Luck level prospect, absolutely, go for it. But if it's someone who played in a spread offense with lots of WRs who are first-round talents, where everyone was wide open all the time... most of those "first round" QBs don't work out in the NFL.

In my opinion, you don't automatically take Marcus Mariota just because Geno Smith is terrible. Just because he doesn't have the stink of failure on him that Smith has, that doesn't mean he will learn proper footwork and good decision making any better than Smith. The HC and those under him have to sit down and figure out "Okay, is Mariota the guy we want to build our franchise around? Do we see him being that kind of QB?" If the answer is not an emphatic yes, then I think the answer is to wait a year. Next year there should be more quality QB prospects available - I think it's more important to get the right QB prospect than it is to get the best one available and just hope for the best.

If the Jets can get Nick Foles, the Eagles 2015 1st and 2nd round picks, and their 2016 1st round pick, I would call that a fair trade and go for it. We'd have Foles to compete with Smith, extra fodder in the second round to get another starting caliber player, and next year we'd have two firsts. We'd have the ammo to trade up next year for a new QB who we believe in, as opposed to one that we're just hopeful about.

Good post. I see a lot of people saying that we should keep the pick and draft mariota, but if this trade rumor is true then its clear that we wouldnt draft mariota period. Maybe he isnt their guy, and they think foles, along with multiple high picks is a better option.

The X factor is that Mariota may really want to play for Kelly... aka ...the Eli whiny maneuver in the draft.

Obviously, I disagree for the most part. I do agree that you don't just take a QB, any QB, simply because Smith is awful, but Mariota isn't just "any" QB.

Who are all these WRs that are first round talents that Mariota played with? So far you can't name one WR that played with Mariota that has been chosen in the first round of the draft.

Why "should" there be more quality QB prospects available? You can't name a single QB who is likely to be in next year's draft who can match Mariota's 3-year career. That QB just isn't there. So where are all these quality QB prospects supposed to come from?

...says YOU and no one else, ever lol. Keep living in your own fantasy world while the rest of us use history, scouting reports, credible league sources, and actual evidence to base our opinions on.

There is not a single QB available next year or the following year that is in Mariota's class as a prospect.

Hey Jesus freak, go get your draft guide blessed by your church elders.

A draft guide or a blog or an ESPN talking head is not EVIDENCE.

Just like the Holy Bible isn't.

Wow, now we all know just how far gone you are. Congrats. If I was trying to attack you, there would be nothing more I would need to say, you just hung yourself right there.

So, basically your attitude is fuck the world, I'm smarter than everyone who ever lived, I don't need to read anything, listen to anyone, learn from anyone, because I am so much smarter than anyone who has ever lived, I can learn from nobody. Wow, just wow! .... Like they say, the most ignorant person is the one who thinks he knows everything and doesn't need anybody else. No man is an island, but you must be Revis' best friend because you seem to think you are an island all unto yourself ..... you can't make this stuff up, just unbelievable.

Never said I know everything, I just don't believe all the bullshit that some draft blogger spews.

Or the bullshit we were taught in Sunday School.

Make your own assessments and judgments. Don't eat up everything your church elders feed you.

I mean, what Tod McShay feeds you.

It is easy to mock somebody else for their beliefs. But you embarrass yourself and reveal the sort of man you are by your own words.

Your "original thought" is simply to mock and to scorn and to spew vitriol and resort to name calling when you are the one who has no idea what he is talking about.

What exactly do *you* believe? What is your great, superior "non-bullshit" worldview?

Just because your wife tragically died does not give you the right to shit on everyone around you, and attack people left and right on this board (because it's not just me, you are rude to practically everyone on here). And those few atheists in the world are those who can't cope with the tragedy in their life, you are a textbook example of why people turn in on themselves, become bitter and lonely, and sadly sink into the rut of self-pity and despair, abandoning all that is good and true in this world.

It's sad, and I sympathize with you, like I said in that last PM I sent you a week ago (I have NOT been constantly PM'ing you as you just falsely accused me of doing before). You will find your way back to God like the rest of us, but until then I will pray for you, as I do for the other lost souls out there who need our prayers, love, and support.

But please try to lose the anger and hate....if you can't stand me, then please just use that ignore button and ignore all of my posts, but for the love of all that is good stop attacking me already, and try to be a respectful, mature member of this board. BTW, I doubt you would say these things to me in person, but you use this forum to vent your anger and shit on all of us because you feel anonymous and safe behind your computer. So please just stop already! If you don't, then I will have to ignore your posts from now on, and I hate to do that kind of thing, I never wanted this pissing match in the first place!

Has nothing to do with my wife--I don't believe in your right wing religious beliefs and throwing them out on a football fan forum or in PMs to me is not the place. If you want to continue, I'll continue to object.

Like I said, I sent you the last PM you will ever get from me about a week ago, and they were all very kind and respectful btw. ....the only time I brought up religion was in that other forum where people can post about anything, and ironically it wasn't even about religion until a few posters brought the subject up. So I didn't even start a topic about religion there (oh the horror that would have been lol!)

So can we now just stop all of this and get back to football please? For the sake of the other posters here, if for nothing else, so they don't have to see all of this back and forth bitching between us...

If you don't know what my original response was to his original post, then go find it. I'm not here to do your work for you. But it had to do with him believing draft reports and mock drafts without an original thought of his own. I have vitriol towards him because of some BS he sent me in repeated PMs and views he expressed in the BS forum. Stuff that did not belong here and some of which was pretty bad.

I post that stuff on this World View Forum I frequent.

    Not a football fan forum.
