Politics isn't a game to be won or lost. We all lose when even one person is denigrated and impugned upon for any reason. Trump is being backed by people who are perfectly willing to segment the population based on race and religion and sex. His past actions lean this way as do his current actions. Elevating a White Nationalist and multiple Religious hardliners to his cabinet speak to this whether you care to admit it or not. As we clearly are spiraling down towards anarchy at an unprecedented rate you have to consider the end game. When that end game comes folks are going to have to line up either for equality for the masses or some sort of totalitarian regime that benefits the few. As an independent voter I'll vote for whoever is willing to work "positively" "for the totality" of the country. You may not be a White Nationalist and feel that everybody other than White Heterosexual Males are the be top notch of society and every"thing" else is without value or merit other than to be subservient to you. But how many of those that you are lined up think and feel exactly like that? These are the people that Trump has chosen to throw his lot in with and double down on it. No amount of tokenism will ever change that because there have and always will be collaborators. In any case I reiterate what I said earlier in the thread. When the Muslim, the Immigrant, the Gay & Lesbian, the Agnostic have their rights taken away who do you think they'll come for next? My concerns are real, my fears are real and so and should be treated as such. To deny concerns out of hand without consideration, especially for those in power, is one severely lacking in empathy. How many of your brothers and sisters will need to have their civil, no, human rights trampled on before it's no longer funny?
Please enlighten me what rights exactly have been taken from the groups you mentioned? The only rights that are being taken away at this time are the rights to freedom of speech - just look at the recent events at UC-Berkeley and NYU. If one's opinion doesn't match the extreme left's ideology, you'll be called a white supremacist or a Nazi, and possibly physically attacked too. P.S. Stop reading the Huffington Post too much...
Look at the Mosque burning and attacks that happened immediately after Trump's announcement of bans, look at the ramped up reporting aggressive behaviors in actual White Nationalists. Folks feeling it's ok to use Nazi affirmations in response to Trump. These are not things that come about on their own without prompting. They didn't just spontaneously appear out of the ether. You'll have to explain to me what exactly is the extreme left ideology and how exactly it's going to hurt people. As for what rights are being taken away, Freedom of Speech is just the start. The freedom to vote was, and is under attack. The constant railing about illegal voters is states he lost a smoke screen to usher in national voter ID laws. Which I don't disagree with, but they need to make every effort to ensure that every "legal" citizen is given the ability to obtain this new ID without a runaround. The purported religious freedom executive order is just a back door way to deny service to anybody that doesn't fit that persons definition of "proper and good". I'm just skimming the top of this but these rights are in the process of being taken away. They shouldn't have to come out and say we hate so and so and are doing this just to screw them over before a wary eye is cast at what's going on. We shouldn't have to get to a point where people are being lynched, and beaten before the light bulb goes off.

I'm not a conspirator against the media, but a ton of this was perpetrated in the media. Trump wanted to keep criminal foreign nationals out and it was turned into Trump hates all foreigners and wants to keep them all out if they're not straight white males.

This came straight out of Giuliani's mouth. This is his intentions and what he wants. That can not be ignored! Gladly he wasn't able to do it because it would be illegal so they had to switch things up a bit to what you now see happening today.
When your choices are Democratic (cross the street crazy) and Republican(stand your ground crazy). You make the choice that allows you to continue progressing forward. In my shoes what choice do you make, clutched pocketbooks and crossed streets or bleeding out on the sidewalk? A choice to do neither is one to stand on the corner and probably be shot for not doing it quietly enough. These are the only choices this country truly gives me and it's still better than the rest of the world. P.S. If you aren't one of the people I'm talking about then I'm not talking about you. My allies consist of ALL people who identify and speak out ALL forms of bias; the way you vote doesn't factor into it. To refuse to identify that it exists at all is both dishonest and sad.
I'm almost sure that this ban on countries was drafted while Obama was in office. He just used the time card to push it down the line
