But the conflict started a day before the car incident. Reducing the conflict to simply the most violent conclusion is dishonest. The issue isnt about just violence, it's about the total behavior. White supremacists tend to be violent, dangerous and irrational. Getting in their face to argue with them is as irrational as going to a zoo and jumping in the lion den. Most people don't blame the tiger when it attacks, and the same applies here. You deliberately confront a dangerous, irrational group of people then you are equally responsible for the subsequent confrontation that you instigated. Anyone who thinks they can confront irrational, dangerous and violent white supremacists without recourse is as delusional or just crazy as the idiots who jump into lion dens. Nothing is to be gained by arguing with racists, particularly in this setting. Anyone who goes to protest the white supremacists are doing so solely to be combative and confrontational. Have a separate rally and gain the support of the public to your position; that's how you combat white supremacists. You don't engage them.

I've engaged in this conversation addressing the biased and dishonest victimization of the counter-protesters who are equally responsible for the conflict across the two days. The nazi driver has been arrested and will be punished, there is nothing that needs to be discussed on that front.
