Fuck you my Dad drank Gibsons.

    That's a vodka martini goddamit.

Freaking bartender once said that to me and I barely tipped him 17%.

Can you be my new ally against Stokes the wannabe smoker?

    Stokes

Know anything about this place? http://www.sookpastry.com/

Want to setup a business for my sister and her husband here in Morris county. My brother in law went bankrupt and I am thinking opening a similar business here in Morris county and ask them to run it. Let me know what you think please.

Just an addition Stokes. They live in Turkey and they have 2 kids under 17 years old. If I open the business, I will have to uproot them from Turkey. I don't mind losing some money but if I uproot them and things go south I will feel terrible.

Others, feel free to chime in. :)

Why don't you open a liquor store for them and you will be their best customer...

    Matt

They are super religious freaks and they will not agree selling alcohol. That's why, instead of a restaurant, I can only think of a Cafe with pastries.

Been there many times. It's about 15 mins from my house.

Is there a need for another bakery in Morris county? Does another bakery have a reason to exist?

Do you/they know the business of baking and of the food services industry?

Do you have a viable location?

Lots of spoilage in food and you have to bsng out a LOT of muffins to pay that rent.

    Every month.

The money in restaurants is in liquor sales unless you sell an incredible volume of product.

I can't understand how BYOBs stay in business.

Btw I drank ice water last nite.

Started scuba lessons early this am and you have to be super hydrated that first few times you breath that compressed air.

Plus I had to do a distance swim and survival float and didn't want to drown.

Bourbon tonite to celebrate my first successful class.

    Stokes. My answers below.

A greak bakery is needed on Madison or Florham Park. Believe me when I say this. I love sweets and no great alternatives.

They or I don't know anything about running a food service. But my sister is an awesome cook and she cooks perfect pastry.

Location is not a problem. I can pay the rent comfortably for a while unti;l customer base is established but I can't support a loss after 2 years.

I guess it comes down to taste and I am not sure if we can become hit like Sook. She is doing an awesome job. We buy our sweets from her even though we are 45 minutes away from her.

Martinis and Gibsons are like Martin & Gibson guitars - both great, both similar but different.

With an olive you have a Martini. A cocktail onion makes it a Gibson. A big pussy and it's then called a Blocker.

She may make the greatest pastry you've ever eaten but unless she can produce it on an industrial scale and understands baking pastries in massive volume, she may be biting off more than she can chew.

She should work in a bakery for at least a year or buy a franchise that can set you up.

I am a phenomenal cook. I would never think to open a restaurant because I don't understand scale and ordering inventory and storage and the like.

It's not as simple as "I can bake a cupcake, let's open up a bakery".

Having said that, if you decide to proceed I'll help all I can.

I love a good baclava. I actually make a great (and really easy) one.

Very valid points. Thanks Stokes. Like I said, I am a corporate man and know nothing about running a business. I will think more and do a little bit research about this of course.

    Who is drunk tonight?

Not me. If you don't know, it is Nickelodeon Kids Choice Award night starting at 8 PM. My 9 year old twin kids voted for their favorites last week. So we are having a Nick party. Their 3 friends will come over shortly. My 2 Kurdish/Turkish(Mom is Turkish) kids hanging with 1 kid from Greece, 1 kid from Chile one kid from Chicago. It is their Superbowl party.

Earlier today I yelled at the curly one for not doing his 20 minute music practice. The other one came over and said Daddy when you were 9 year old, didn't you do any mistakes? Why you yelling at my brother?" I called my wife, I said come home soon, I will head to George Washington Bridge and jump. Geez. Today's kids are something.

They lost again? Matt. You are already being punished by God for being a Jets fan. Why root for another New York team? :)

Seltzer lime rocks. Scuba lessons tomorrow at 8:15, can't drink.

About a dozen people are at my house drinking all my Proseco and it's really bumming me out.
