Stephen Hill may have had a chance if he wasn't drafted into a historically bad passing offense.

Supposedly he was having a good training camp in Carolina until he got hurt this year.

I still don't understand why Idzik cut him outright for guys like David Nelson .

Hill actually had a fantastic first game his rookie year against Chan Gaileys Bills.

Yea I know, he managed to do it while body catching. The old saying "a broken clock is still right twice a day" comes to mind.

I was actually thinking Ginn when I typed Cotchery.....must have had Cotchery on the brain after watching him hook up with Cam to defeat 'Beast Mode'.

Notice how good the Buckeyes have done without him (and his 60 TDs) with basically the same team. Ouch!

The ability to actually catch the ball actually plays into coaches cutting guys. Hill couldn't catch, Nelson could. Pretty simple l.

Poor route running, dropped passes, no separation, didn't fight for the ball, injury prone, this kid has a lot to improve on

I said it a while ago.

A NYJ that is a future Hall of Famer is currently on our roster. Probably one of our all time greats. Possibly a Ring of Honor type guy.

    Went to OSU.

It's not about the school. It's about the player.

Holmes, really? I just believe the schools like OSU, USC, Florida have players that look great because of the system they run and then flounder when they come to the NFL.

"Stephen Hill may have had a chance if he wasn't drafted into a historically bad passing offense." HAHAHAHA

He could have had Joe Montana throwing him the ball he would still do what he does best ... drop em !

Holmes had a better than average nfl career.
I believe what you say about qbs. I think the smaller school qbs have to learn the position more because they don't have nfl talent around them to hide behind. All the other positions though, the big schools get the nfl talent. The fact that there isn't enough nfl talent for every school to have some makes them standout. Osu may put out busts but thats because they put out alot of draftable players.

I think I probably disagree with every statement made in this post'

Mac took Smith because of Geno? NO BPA. No one is drafting players based on Geno Smith.
Would have taken a RT to keep Fitz upright? NO BPA. No one is drafting players based on Fitz.
Smith is the next Cothery? NO Not even close to the same player.
Smith single handedly took Ohio State to a Championship? NO LOL
Smith WILL be a number 2 reciever? Highly doubt it, if he pans out looks like a #3 speed receiver.

OSU went 12-1 this year - same amount of losses as last year - and D. Smith had 30 career TD's, idiot. 60 is the NCAA career record held by Jarrett Dillard of Rice. By the way, Dillard only caught 1 TD in the NFL during his short and injury riddled pro career.

It's one thing to like Devin Smith and think he's gonna pan out, it's another to act like he was Randy Moss playing for Marshall...it's just dumb shit.

It took Ted Ginn like 10 years and 5 different teams to become a half way decent football player. I hate when people compare draft picks to overrated crappy players like it's a compliment. It's like when every year someone compares a TE to Vernon Davis...Davis sucks and had one good year...I don't want the next Vernon Davis or Ted Ginn Jr.
