Darnold is 23 and Watson is 25. A Future HOF QB becomes available BEFORE his prime?? You don’t question it.
Unless trading for Watson involves giving up 4 first rounders and 3 unprotected pick swaps, we should do it and not look back. He's 25 years old, on track to be a Hall of Famer, and will immediately be the best QB to wear a Jets uniform since Namath (and one year of a banged up Favre doesn't count).
What good young players does Atlanta have except for Ridley? Ryan and Jones are aging and expensive. Maybe that linebacker they have but he likely has no real trade value.
Just because the Jets fleeced Seattle and probably got more for Adams than they should probably have, that does not mean you have to use them to give more than you should. I am not a Watson fan and so not think he would succeed in NY. JD just got rid of a malcontent why do we want to give up the farm for another one? I do not think anyone is worth 3 first rounders especially when 1 is number 2 overall. I would hope they stay away, but if it is going to happen hopefully JD dos not give away more than 1 more first rounder in the deal. You can add a second rounder or a second and a third, but not 3 first round picks.
I like Watson. A lot he’s the guy I wanted the Jets to draft that year at 6 instead of a fucking safety. That was one of Macs worst decisions...among many that being said, I think 3 first round picks is a stretch. For us. We are rebuilding g and have so many holes. Literally every position needs upgrading....OL, RB, WR, CB, edge rusher, OLB. We need better players all over the place. I would do a deal that is reasonable, but I don’t think three first round picks is reasonable for us at this stage.
One more thing....I don’t really like the public pouting about not being consulted on the GM search. You are a player not a front office executive. A bit much
I would take their left tackle to pair with Becton. Instead of blowing # 2 on Sewell we would have our man and the # 4 pick.
the issue is that he was consulted and then the owner goes out and ignores his suggestions + the search firm's recommendations for GM just to hire Caserio. Reported that they had already offered the GM job to Omar Khan from the Steelers and Easterby went to McNair and had them withdraw the offer and hire his buddy Caserio. Not to mention their HC search fiasco
So trade 3 1's for a QB that 1) we know nothing about at the next level or 2) who can be a complete flop.. But not trade 3 1's for a proven top 5 QB in the league who is 26. That is absolutely insane.
I'm not a big fan either. Head coach is one thing and that's even a bit of a stretch. But GM? I think it's more about creating as much negative noise as possible to force his way out though.
Sounds great, but the Texans were 4-12 with that stud this season. If the Jets trade for Watson aren’t they just switching places with Houston?
How exactly do you plan on building around him? That one player will chew up a ton of draft assets and cap space.
