I wouldn't give up 4 or 5 first round picks for him, but I think that three 1st and a 2nd is totally reasonable for a player of his caliber. Hopefully, they will like Sam as that could give them a starting QB for 2021 or going forward and they could trade down with the #2 pick and fill a lot of holes, and maybe they wouldn't want as much then. I'm not going to count on that however. As has been pointed out, we'd still have a #1 pick this year and next year, and if they didn't want Sam as part of the trade, we could always trade him for a pick or picks, and JD could trade down from #23 this year or from Seattle's pick next year. I wouldn't be worried in the least about not having a 1st round pick in 2023. We could have made the AFC Championship Game in 2022. We'll have all of our other picks, and if JD really felt there was a player he had to have, he could trade the 2024 1st round pick for him.
Watson is making Mahomes money in 2022 and 2023 but he is top 3 like Mahomes and will be worth every penny. 3 of the 4 remaining QBs are making significant money. Having a big contract like that isn't a problem if you hit on your picks and make smart FA signings.
I totally disagree. Has Watson trashed anyone publicly? No. His situation is nothing like Adams'. Adams didn't want to play on a loser or for Gase or both. Watson was lied to by the owner of the Texans, had his best WR and best friend traded away, saw the O'Brien trade away its future in trading all those draft picks, and worst of all, I have zero problems believing that McNair is a racist. I lived in Texas for 4 years, and the state is full of them. Watson and Adams are in no way similar.
If I'm giving up both 1st rounders this year, that it. They aren't getting another 1st. I'd give the a 2nd or 3rd but not another 1st. They could have Darnold and our two 1sts this year or they could have Seattle's two 1sts and the 3rd and maybe Darnold. If it's accept that or nothing and Watson sits out, they'd have to take it.

Exactly! The fanbase is already excited over the Saleh hiring. Add Watson and Allen Robinson, and the fanbase will be over the moon. It will go from being ready to bail on the team to ecstatic! The Jets would be the toast of the town, would always have the back pages of the tabloids, and would be a playoff team in short order. Nothing changes the culture like having a great QB and winning.

I think he's more open to going to different places then you're giving him credit for. Houston could just back him down and say fuck it sit out if you're going to limit us to one team and kill our ability to get some value. I don't think that'd be overly shocking. It wouldn't be the first time a franchise told a player to kick rocks.
Look at what I bolded, one or two of those three things is wrong. Either we're missing the 3rd in 2023 instead of the 1st or you misquoted the scenario from the tweet. This is actually the best trade I've seen yet. This year we would give up the #2 pick, but keep Seattle's pick, and instead of giving up our 2nd round pick, we give up our 3d. Next year we get to keep our 1st but have to give up our 2nd, and then in 2023 we only give up a 3rd. I'd do that trade in a NY minute.
Well, it is similar. The reasons may be different, but he is handling it poorly. If he wants out, he should go to the owner and tell him. Request a trade. Not tweet and like photos, etc. I don't like that. I guess that is just how star players act these days. I don't understand why he signed an extension if he felt this way though.
True, but if Watson is that unhappy with their lying to him, and he doesn't like McNair, Caserio, Easterby or their new HC and racism is an issue, he could gladly sit out. Houston's fanbase would kill McNair if that happened. If it's true that Houston is already discussing teams to which to trade Watson, I imagine they'll go to him rather than he to them, so that he will maintain leverage. He will then say "yeah" or "nay" to the teams they propose. As someone pointed out, he probably doesn't care if Houston doesn't get that much for him in return and wouldn't want to hurt his new team that much. I was just saying that he could just say the Jets, but agree that he will probably be open to more than just one team, and the Jets may not even really be one of the teams he'd be willing to which he'd be willing to be traded.
He probably signed the extension before any of this negative stuff happened. We don't know that he hasn't requested a trade. He hasn't tweeted anything bad yet.
Sitting out is a career killer. It's even worse for a quarterback. He could do that. But they could also gladly challenge him to do so at least until he allows them to negotiate with multiple teams. I don't think there are a ton of guys in the entire league that narrow there sights on the Jets, dude. Miami is probably a much more compelling situation and he becomes richer if he goes there even though I don't believe that money matters much to him in the grand scheme of things.
