Normally I'd agree with this but normally a team trading a bunch of first round picks don't have other first round picks sitting in the bank. We could trade for Watson and still land multiple starters in the next two drafts between the Adams trade and the eventual Darnold trade. Like Schefter said, we are best positioned. Although I think the Dolphins are.
If it’s pick 2, next years pick and two yeses first I’m all in. we could do Deshaun 23-possible trade back or BPA (Najee) 33-interior OL Allen Robinson or Golloday FA!
Your saying we would still have normal drafts in 2021 and 2022. That is not rebuilding. A rebuild involves accruing a quantity of high draft capital over 2 drafts. Then, as our crummy team is struggling to achieve average, we don't have a first rounder in 2023. The nose points south again.
Miami could also put together a package that would include Tua. The Jets should absolutely get involved if only to drive up the price.
When you trade for an elite QB, you aren't rebuilding. You've already entered like stage 3 of rebuilding.
We may have used our 2nd overall on a QB anyway so that pick hardly counts. Seattle's 1st next year and our first in 2023, sign me up. Perennial all pro QB at what 26 years old?!?
Trading a bunch of picks vs the second overall pick are two entirely different matters. Our pick by itself is worth a king's ransom. I would trade up to #1 before I would move our pick in an effort to get Watson. He will make more than double what Trevor Lawrence would cost against the cap for at least a couple years.
That is entering stage 3 of Richie Kotite. I'm going to be waking up in cold sweats dreaming members of TGG are the Jets GM.
I would trade for the proven elite QB that's 26 years old over the question mark that's 21 years old. Every single time.
At what point did the Jets have an elite QB and still have all but one of their first round picks over a three year span under Kotite?
Its just slapdash team building. In 1996 Kotite thought all we needed to be competitive was a quality QB. Turns out he was wrong.
I fail to see how having an elite QB with all but one of your picks is slapdash, but to each their own I guess.
