I'm interested in wins, not some guy who has never won anything but looks impressive doing so. Let's build this team for the long haul with our stockpile of picks and augmenting through FA. Not saying I don't like Watson. But he's not the savior. We need the picks and the cap room.
Well not for anything but he's won two division titles, a playoff game and a passing yardage title. That'd tie him with Joe Namath for the franchise lead in division titles.
It would be a very Jetsy thing to do. But I have a feeling we are going in a new direction. Building the team from the ball out. IMO, the right way. cool
I never said he's the savoir and yes the cost of the trade is huge but cap room isn't an issue. I've done the math and realistically we could trade for watson and sign schreff, dupree, and robinson and still be fine. If we traded say darnold and the #2 overall and seattles pick next year we would still have a 1st, 2nd, and 2 3rd this year and all our picks next year and have a good offense with a better line thanks to schreff, better WRs with a-rob, mims, and crowder.
Are you really using QBR to say Deshaun Watson isn't a top 5 QB? By that metric, Baker Mayfield (LOL), Derek Carr (LOL), Ryan Fitzpatrick (LOL), Ryan Tannehill (LOL), Lamar Jackson (LOL), and Drew Brees (LOL) were all better QBs than Watson this year. If you think that then you can't be helped. Have you actually watched Deshaun Watson play?
Hold up...SO you're telling me Baker, Tannehill, and Lamar didn't have better years? And define better? The goal is to win the Super Bowl. So....yes all those QB's sands Derek Carr and Fitz had better years. they had their teams in the mix for the goal. Watson = Sam this year in that respect. Neither lead their teams to the playoffs
Assuming we trade darnold in the trade I took his cap hit for that, I also went higher then market value for dupree, schreff, and a-rob (17 mil each but I don't think they get that much) it leaves us at 20 mil which is enough for rookies (probably around 12ish needed) leaving us with 8 mil for whatever. this doesn't include possible restructures either which could raise that. plus this puts us at 55 so it'll go down a little once we cut bottom end people for draft picks and UDFA. probably be sitting around 12ish million for 2021 left over after it's all said and done https://imgur.com/EmFGdX8
Watson is liking posts linking him to the Jets. Either he likes the attention or he'd actually waive his no trade clause to come here.
Carton is reporting the Texans are meeting today to discuss which teams to trade Watson to. Shit is getting real.
Bring us DeShaun Joe. We've not had a QB like him for decades. Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk
If the asking price is more than our #2 pick this year, no thanks. Roll the dice with a cheaper Fields.
I’d have no problem offering 3 1st rd picks plus whatever filler picks it would take. I’d offer up the Jets next 3 1st rd picks which would only leave us without a 1st 3 years from now. If we can get a 25 yr old top 5 QB while still having a 1st rd pick in the next two drafts it is a no brainer. We’d also be able to recoup some picks by trading Sam.
