Imagine you are the new Texans GM, if you get several comparable offers from the Jets/Fins would you trade Watson to a team that is very close (w Watson) to challenging KC for the AFC or to the Jets (maybe a 6-7 win team next year)?? The fan base & local media will kill them for his success at Miami. It makes sense to send him to the Jets, get as much back as you can....
I don’t know if that tweet about talking to Bill O’Brien was real or not. Seems curious to me he would have anything to say about it.
i know but maximus asked me to explain why it is and I know he's too smart to even entertain answering that
I'd like to see what Tua does in a better offense built more towards his skillet. Virtually every single quarterback has had more interceptions than touchdowns with Chan Gailey's other than Ryan Fitzpatrick. Six out of seven years at Georgia Tech, one year in Miami, one year in Pittsburgh. Tyler Thigpen had more touchdowns than interceptions when he was with the Chiefs but they were 2-14 and he completed 54% of his passes so that goes in the loss column. One year with an aging Troy Aikman in 1998 with a mediocre passing offense, one year with Elway in 1989 in Denver (18 touchdowns/18 picks, but the game was different) and any other "successful season" he had Fitzpatrick with three different friggain AFC East teams. They love each other. I'm not a big guy into the system makes the passer but there's something strange with his system where only one guy succeeds. Tua wasn't good last year and you're right about the empty stats. But he's still talented and young. Even still - Miami would move on from him in a heartbeat if they could get Watson.
But what explains the recent signals Watson has been sending? Perhaps it’s all a ruse and he’s using us like many speculate but why us and not the Dolphins who have almost just as much draft capital? Anyway it’s why all this is just noise from both sides until something confirmed has happened. If not we got Zach Wilson or Justin Fields to take and hopefully get our franchise QB finally.
Many of those signals we've interpreted were not directly from Deshaun and were a bit tenuous. The best clear indications we have are other players (Sherman and ARob) outright commenting and liking Jets/Deshaun stuff. We need something from Schefter or Rappaport soon, and Schefter's last comment was pretty ominous about NYJ's chances...
Matt Miller is just as sourced as that clown from the Miami Herald, if not less sourced. He’s routinely wrong about stuff and he’s a draft “expert”, not an NFL insider. Ever since Mac got canned he’s hated on the Jets.
Then why even say you want the Jets #1 or miami #2. Just give Huston a list of teams & let them do there thing. He must prefer the Jets, & I'll bet he has already talked to Robinson about pairing up in New York.
Over was always a banker, the same 6 people ragging a dirty bone back and forth for a week, you had no chance
The Jets work out for Allen Robinson and Richard Sherman better than the other teams because they have the most cap space and a head coach talking about getting players huge paydays plus a top 5 QB in the scenario.
All. This thread is now 101 pages. Threads with long pages on the main page slows down the forum servers. So I will be locking this thread and let's continue in the new thread below. https://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/miami-herald-state-watson-picks-jets-as-1-destination.95186/
