I think this is what triggered that post: http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jets/post/_/id/686/why-a-revis-extension-probably-wont-get-done
No, I mean where have you seen the Revis camp saying they aren't looking for Aso money? FTR their are ways to work around the guaranteed money part, see the Willis deal.
the family argument is completely ridiculous. You know why he wants all that money its for one reason. He wants to have the fancy cars and the fancy houses and the villas in italy and etc. I have not seen an athlete not follow that trend. It is such a shame for him to be doing this. I dont disagree with him getting paid but i do disagree with the manner of how he's going about it. You have guys like mangold and harris waiting on contracts and yet they care about the team and the championship to remain patient and let things fall into place. They are two prime examples of why Revis is selfish. I think revis is talented and without him our chances of winning a superbowl are significantly diminished but there will never be a player that can win the superbowl on his own. its that simple. Revis will not win the superbowl on his own. He should settle for a 12 mil a year lengthy contract that would surpass asomugah in overall pay rather than being the highest paid cb.
All recent articles say he wants 10 mil, not the 15 Aso is getting. I assumed the Aso contract is by the wayside now.
Just heard something very interesting on mike and mike on espn. Revis is the only player in the nfl with a contract that is not in training camp. Looks like everyone else has the decency to atleast show up to camp and honor their contracts
Its "believed" but I heard La Canfora say it too. He's more believable than the post. Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/jets/on_the_blink_B0oeD0GAXCToXn5CskgggP#ixzz0w7FIZLEL
I saw that too. I understand it from both sides. No one knows for sure what he's been offered so far. It's all speculation. The Jets may have made an excellent offer to him or they may have made a ridiculously low one. We don't know. He deserves to be paid more and is using the only leverage he has, a holdout. The Jets don't want to kill the rest of the team trying to pay him, which I understand too. I don't know why one side HAS to be wrong here. Its a tough situation from both sides.
I highly doubt that is the case or it would be done already. Unless you have someone from Revis' camp saying they aren't looking for Aso money I don't believe what any beat writer is speculating. The last we heard of anything from his camp was Revis saying he'd be happy making 50 cents more than Aso. Guaranteed money can be given and Tanny knows it so I doubt that's the holdup either. It's total value of the contract that's the problem.
When did I portray him as being greedy? i think you are confusing my posts w/ posts from someone else. I didn't say the Jets should pay him what he wants just as I did say he shouldn't just take what the Jets offer. They'll meet somewhere in the middle but obviously the Jets can pay mre money and obviously he's nopt getting everything he asks for.
May discontinuing the Mangold/Harris discussions is a good sign that they are focusing everything on Revis.
There is a rumor that the Jets (Woody) has a cap on cash paid out this year that would affect an up front signing bonus.
I look at the other way. It is horrible that the Revis mess is preventing the Jets from getting business done with Mangold/Harris. This negotiation has the potential to destroy a very promising young core.
Without a doubt, his bff/manager has been tweeting 1 or 2 word random things. I think we'll hear something very shortly, maybe even this afternoon. I'm still sticking to that Revis will be out for this season though/
I hope they can get a deal done. He is a vital part of the team. Him holding out and possibly skipping out on the season would make a huge dent in our superbowl run. With him then its a whole new ball game
