I can see Rex now at his press conference: Revis playing Monday? Pssssshhh! No doubt we want him out there! We didn't give him all that money to ride the bench!
But... what if Jackson doesn't make it to the PS now...? AHAHAHAHAHah Happy he signed we are going to kick ass this season!
Revis and his agents probably preferred the 4 year $46 mill terms over the 10 year $120 proposed deal. He actually could get more money with the shorter deal, particularly if he stays healthy and continues to play well. New CBA, salary cap goes up each year, Revis hits free agency in 2014, he continues to play at an All-Pro level, etc. He would receive a big contract at that time and it would be for more money than the back end of some 10 year deal he could have signed this month. He would have never seen all 10 years of a 10 for $120 million deal. The deal would have been restructured at some point or the Jets would have cut him somewhere down the line.
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (REVIS SIGNS!!!!) If they got VJ a deal that's actually quite a feat. Letting him get to this point is just stupid though, although talk is that the demands were his idea
