I am making a baseless prediction here: Revis and the Jets will agree on a deal tomorrow. With all of these roster moves and freeing up money, I think they have to be close.
How much money has the team saved by cutting or reducing the salaries of other players? T-Rich- 850k Rhodes- Clemens- Coleman- 300k I think? Gholston- Faneca- 2 mill? T.Jones-
We all hope you're right but it just doesn't feel like it. There would be rumors emanating from somewhere if that was the case. There always seems to be some indication before someone signs. Anyway, hope you're right.
most of the money saved has been spent already, we aren't saving 850 k for richardson, his replacement likely will be making 300-500k. But yeah I am hoping the extra space being made is to get a damn deal done with Revis....
True enough. But there might be a compromise solution, namely, give the jerk 17M this year so he can claim to be the highest paid CB. Since it's an uncapped year it doesn't hurt our flexibility long term but does improve our Super Bowl chances. Then do this song and dance all over again after the labor dispute is resolved.
I totally agree but that may be the only compromise solution that both parties will agree to. Both can claim victory and move on.
The fact that we didn't cut the roster down to 52 to leave a spot for Revis has prompted a tidal wave of shit articles and posts to crash on the shores of TGG. Head for high ground, my friends.
that doesnt surprise me. Unless they expected revis to sign last night at midnight, no reason not to put a 53rd guy on the roster, once revis' name is on the line they can cut whomever.
The fact Coles & T-Rich have been released has me thinking... mmm... trying to free up money to do something with Revis?
exactly. With all the weirdness in the revis negotiations, you don't risk a guy you like until you absolutely have revis' name on the dotted line.
