There's going to be a rookie "salary cap" beginning next year. That's why the Patriots traded Seymour away for a 1st round pick in 2011. Rookies won't be receiving the guaranteed money that past rookies have received.
Agreed. Even if we lose 1st two games, they are not gonna panic and give Revis the money he wants. Thye will ride it out for the season and readjust the team next year. He's really got 2 options...sign and play for a FAIR amount, or sit out 3 years and when your a free agent go find someone who will give that typs of BS money. Tanny won't panic and trade him.. He cant hurt us by not being on the field with another team. Lets be real, he instantly makes another team better if he steps on the field with them
And then we only get 1 first round pick instead of a package of 2 first rounders plus 1 or 2 late round picks.
No, that's incorrect. I laid exactly what they claim to be asking for. 35M SB on a 7 year extension. Reinstating his previous guarantees. (which is then 55 m guaranteed, far more than Aso...) paying him the 153 over 10 that was floated in the media The tipping point would be around 2016, where the salaries would be prohibitive to keeping the player. his average salaries (and cap charges) over the next 5 years would have been 12.3 million dollars. But the salary structure isn't the point. In general we all agree on that. It's where to go without resolving that issue where everyone disagrees. If he's not amenable to raise, sit on him
Fine. I'll leave it alone. To the latter point, then. Can you give me an example of a team sitting on a malcontent player and forcing him to play rather than trading him? It just doesn't happen.
ya, i just dislocated my shoulder today, hope they dont settle this too soon, or i wont have anything to do
I forwarded this along to Revis and the Jets, and they've agreed to sit on any progress or a signing for fear of leaving you bored.
Why trade him...so in the next 3 years it can come back to bite us in the ass?? Its time for us to play hardball..Why even give him the chance to play with another team??? What did he do this offseason to even consider deserving of a trade? This is why guys try to take advantage of the team management.. bc we allow them too.. If Jets take a stand, it will prove a big point to many Jets fan that were not gonna be walked all over if your not happy with 3 years left
cheers, its nice to know that rather than use ur direct contact with revis to find out info everyones dieing for, u thought of me
Either way, the damage has been done to F&S. They'll never get what they've been asking for, and next season, his demands become even more unreasonable. They come out of it looking poorly, and the situation has already soured a lot of minds against this method of securing a contract. It's an emotional reaction pretending to be logically predicated on the fact that he has 3 years left on his contract. The fact is, however, that no one has ever sat on a malcontent. The NFL is full of short lifespans, and teams would rather secure their team and compete than make some sort of stand. If a stand is made, it'll be made collectively. That's why there's the threat of a lockout.
I know about the $162 mil. I just never heard the $153 figure, although I think a deal can be done we meet half way at around $140mil.
