Because that team DOES think you're worth $12m a year?

Because that team looks like being a Super Bowl contender?

    Because... oh what's the point.

Say hello to Revis for us.

Reading the Cole piece was an extremely unpleasant experience.

Because this year CB contracts are really out of the market (which btw we'll have no idea what it'll look like since we have no CBA for 2011).

    1. Bailey in the finaly year of a contract (which averages less than 9mill per year) that pays him 13 mill (15 mill salary cap number).

    2. Asomugha in his crazy deal (which will hopefully be up next season).

    3. Who knows how much teams will be allowed to spend with the cap back on

    4. He's in the 4th year of a 6 year deal!!! And he held out to have this deal too!!! Show some respect to the Jets damn it... and show some respect to yourself too... just like David Harris is doing playig for 500k.

At this point I'm really hoping we trade him next year for a king's ransom because he's really getting on my nerves... Mangold, Ferguson and Harris are proving they're real men... Revis is a whiny bitch just like his uncle Sean Gilbert... and I can't have any respect for those kind of people.

In Revis defense... I'd offer him more than 120 mill per 10 years... 130-140 is reasonable especially if you count in that normally these deals are kind of back-loaded...

that's the thing, these deals can be bloated to $200m and most of it won't matter.

    Its about the guaranteed money.

If there is a way to give Revis a similar contract as Brick in terms of "blocking punts" and all that bullshit, then do it so that he gets his highest paid player bullshit but in reality its a fair deal to all.

Nah... what I meant is he should earn between 12-14 mill a year in salary & actually obtainable bonuses... no punt blocking bullshit.

130 over 10 yrs with 50-60 mill guaranteed would be a good deal imo.
Offering 120 maybe with some bullshit clauses isn't a good enough offer imo.

what I(we) don't know is... is Tanny actually negotiating or is there a take-it-or-leave-it approach from both sides...? Guess we'll know when this is all over with.

The first time I read this article, I swore I saw an S on Cole...as in Coles...then thought, great, he is up to it again.....

If he wants to show up 'never again'.....that's fine...he might as well put in the retirement papers now....since we have that whole, three years remaining on the contract thing.....

This all said, my opinion is that he will be lined up against Anquan in 10 days....one way or the other...

The purpose of this post is what, exactly? Once again, you have nothing useful to say.

There definitely will be a very long article on what the hell happened since january.

I'd like a balance of both of our thoughts. Give him his guaranteed money, and his average that works for both sides, but add bullshit in just so that he can say "I, by far, make the most in the league." This will be a complicated and long contract if it even gets done. My instinct tells me he's in a day or two before next monday

Let's say he doesn't sign (and there's absolutely no indication that he will in the next few days).

Where is Revis Week 1? Because I have this scary feeling that he's gonna be sitting next to Dan Marino on the CBS halftime show...

Honestly, I'd rather read a Rable! Rable! Rable! post instead of most of the crap in this thread.

Just because you have the money available doesn't mean you just give the player whatever they want. Especially when what they want is far above every other normal contract for CB's.

Yes, Woody has a lot of money. That has never really been a question.

Cue the usual Woody haters ete etc

The key here is greed , if we can get Mangold and Brick signed it proves that with a deal that is realistic the Jets will get the deal done.

IF any of the levels of guaranteed cash are correct then they Jets should stay clear expecially with a track record of two hold outs in 4 years.

If money isn't an issue why are we pinching pennies not keeping Coles on the roster for Week 1 in a non-capped year?

Because Coles sucks now and it's easier to tell him that it's a money issue, as opposed to flat-out saying, "you haven't got it anymore."

Mangold and Brick contracts were easier though...

Brick isn't the best LT in football (top 5-7?) and was given a good deal.

Mangold is the best C in football but there is no over-paid C in the NFL.

The fact Aso plays for the Raiders and that Bailey is on the last year of a very back loaded deal makes the Revis deal a lot harder.

If the Raiders don't pick-up the 17-17.5 mill option they have on Aso next year it should be fun seeing how much money Revis will ask for since NO CB WILL MAKE MORE THAN 10-11 MILL in 2011.

Because he'd prob get cut after week 4 and the Jets don't want to guarantee him 800k when they'd only owe him 150?

The fact Woody is rich doesn't mean he likes throwing away money you know.

    NFL is a business...
