I'm just curious why that seems to be the logic of his position. There's nothing tangible to base it on. He hasn't come out and threatened to hold out for the full season like his agency stablemate Vincent Jackson. He hasn't said anything at all. All anyone is basing this selfish "I want the team to lose without me" logic on is the fact that he's not here in the preseason and that his uncle is Sean Gilbert. That's it. If Vincent Jackson misses the regular season, he'll be the first F&S client that I'm aware of to miss time in the regular season, and he has a very good reason to do so. So did Gilbert. Revis doesn't. That we're all assuming he doesn't realize that or is ignoring it because of how selfish he is doesn't make 'logical' sense unless you take huge leaps of faith into determining Revis's character and his intelligence. He may prove that leap of faith right, but it's certainly not 'logical'.
For all of the stuff you said here I have one answer: Uncle Sean held out and got paid. He did so in a total impasse with the team he was playing for in which the only important issue was money. If Revis wasn't Sean Gilbert's nephew I'd view the situation a lot differently. And BTW, for somebody who is just speculating on the result here you're devoting a lot of energy to trying to shoot somebody else down who is also speculating. What's that all about?
Funny thing is, if we start out 0-2, 0-3 with Revis holding out and the secondary getting torched - I still don't see Tanny paying off the ransom. What would King Revis do then? He'd be up the creek.
I'm not shooting you down. I said I was glad to see that you had relaxed your position, and you argued that you hadn't. You're free to believe that he'll come back in Week 3. It's valid speculation which I happen to disagree with. However, when I told you it was hardly certain, you fought it. When I saw the more relaxed position this morning, I was pleased and said so. And like I said, Uncle Sean was in a different position. I'm sure he had something to do with Revis sitting out to this point, but I don't think that necessarily means that he's telling him to hold out into the season. We're assuming Revis, his uncle, and his agents are all idiots in that scenario. I'm only willing to accept the middle one without further evidence. If Revis isn't here Week 1, I'll call him an idiot like everyone else.
My opinion hasn't changed. I think that absent movement on the Jets part we're going to week 3 or thereabouts. That's not in conflict with the other opinion I expressed today which is that the logical endpoint is for Revis to come in and get paid after the preseason is over. I'm hopeful that happens although I don't expect it too, since I think at least some of the things that are driving the hold out can't be logically explained given the conditions in play.
Just remember that you're parsing what I write and looking for contradictions, however I've pretty consistently said the same thing. You see a wobble when I talk about a logical endpoint, however you discount the fact that I've said several times that I don't see this as a logical standoff at this point. When the Cowlishaw story broke I was perfectly willing to moderate my position and accept the fact that Revis might be coming in at a number of the Jets choosing. When that rumor turned out to be false I went back to my baseline assumptions, which were that money was the main thing keeping the two sides apart and that Revis had a lot of incentive to hold out for every last dollar, given that his uncle did so and won. To make it absolutely clear, here are the conditions in which I see Revis reporting before the season begins: 1. The Jets increase their offer and he decides that he's at top dollar and takes it. 2. The Jets offer a really significant bandaid to him to play this season, probably 7 million would do it, which would effectively be a 6 million dollar bump. 3. He decides to take a short term extension in which he gets better than Aso numbers this year counting the bonus and is free to become a free agent in 2012 or 2013. I just don't see him coming in under other circumstances. Not after he's invested as much as he has in the holdout already. If he was going to take the 10/122 he'd have done it earlier. Same for the 4/40. Both were extraordinarily generous deals given that he had 3 years left on his contract to fulfill at lower compensation and with less guaranteed money.
So, has anybody tried to stalk him yet? If someone here has no job, aint got shit to do, you better get "Revis". Maybe TGG will reimburse someone to go undercover and find this Dbag
I think we should all just pretend Revis was lost to a season ending injury and we will be playing this season without him.
He was one of the greatest corner backs NFL has ever had. We will surely miss him, but u gotta move on. Shit happens. One of these days, maybe he'll become a great secondary coach. I wish all the best for him (and the family of millions he has to feed).
PFT takes shots at Graziano calling him incorrect. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/09/01/hip-injury-returns-for-antonio-cromartie/
They have been brutal on him, their twitter account blocked me because I was talking shit to them about this whole thing. Once I said Pussy Fart Talk it was all over.
