How is a guy supposed to get any work done when this crap is going on? This just has to happen now, after all this anticipation. If it does, anyone see backlash from the local beat writers for having the wool pulled over their eyes?
I really doubt anything will be announced today before Hard Knocks to be honest, which is bullshit. But if the Jets can hold off a few more hours and build suspense and Woody can get the Jets some publicity, well, he's gonna do it. If today was Friday or something and they had a few days to wait til Hard Knocks, they wouldn't wait. But since it's Wednesday, why not milk it for a few hours if there is in fact something going on.
Something is happening with Revis today tho, he filmed an interview to be aired today and imo it'll be on Hard Knocks. Every other network would blast previews all over the internet
This is the only thing that's keeping me hopeful that Revis will be at practice by tomorrow. But, to be honest, I'm a little disappointed that Woody and Mike T. didn't hold their ground on these negotiations. 12.2M per year was by far more than fair for a player Revis' caliber in a system that has been ranked at worst in the Top 6 without a shutdown corner.
I thought about this too then I realized that it isn't that huge of a deal whether he signs today or not. At least it shouldn't be. Its easy to get wrapped up in the drama though.
Some light reading regarding Pittsburgh tv stations report of a contract. Not sure if its already been posted. http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2010/08...s-swirl-in-darrelle-revis-jets-contract-saga/
"Second, Jackson is fully prepared to hold out the entire season, because his agents -- Neil Schwartz and Jonathan Feinsod, who also represent Darrelle Revis -- have committed to supporting him financially with the knowledge that he'll pay them back after he cashes in with a blockbuster deal in the future. Like AFLAC, this line of credit means that while Jackson is out of work, he'll be able to support himself; thus, the financial pressure to get a deal done is not there." -- ESPN insider rumor blog. (Can't post the link due to my post count ) How on earth does any team want to deal with these guys again?? If I was a team drafting a player, I would have a high probability of passing ont he guy for the sole reason that these 2 are his agents
If the interview will be broadcast on Hard Knocks then it will go against the agreed media blackout between both sides UNLESS he signs a deal before then.
I can't get over the optimism here. People on this board are talking like this is a done deal. I say no chance it happens today or tonight
I completely agree with this. I understand it's not a "live news show" but considering an interview has already been taped this seems to be a logical prediction.
Well it's supposed to air today, there's no way the contract's been signed and it's just sitting there and nobody knows about it. Cool
I agree with you....the Jets have all the cards in this showdown...and shouldn't have to budge on anything. But those proposed contract numbers tells me Woody really wants to win this year.....
For the same reason that baseball teams have no choice but to deal with Scott Boras. As long as Schwartz and Feinsod keep getting good players to sign with them, NFL teams have no choice but to try and work with them.
