Let's wait and see.... but unless there are about 20 mill in impossible money I'd be very pissed off at 10yrs 152 mill
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (4AM Email - Revis in by Thursday?) I'm happy for Slaw, everyone denied but he stood firm. Got the day right and everything, if it is true that it will be broken on Hard Knocks and they actually had a deal on the 12th??? WTF? He could've been practicing, now that would be bs. Looks like Revis and Schwartz bent Tanny over, one of them took his rear while the other was making Tanny hit himself.
IF that were the case it would suck in my opinion. I mean there goes the Jet for life part of the 10 year deal. I know his skills would be declining towards the end of the contract but if you go 10 years on a deal make it a hard 10. Not some thing where it is beneficial for either part to part ways at year 5 or 6. Its to common in sports contracts today to have an out clause built in to it. Its going to get to the point where contracts aren't binding past a year or two.
No. That's more than I'd like to see, but that's not bad. Here's his current deal 1,5,15 (pretty much it WAS guaranteed) If you extend that deal 7 years, for a total of 10 years, The SB is 35 +1 for this year = 36 mil you average the next 2 years at 10 mil guaranteed thats 56 Guar. (so except the SB, you are in the same boat as his rookie deal)... Salaries of 12,12,13,13,15,15,16 give you the 152. To get to 65 guaranteed, you'd be guaranteeing some portion of future salary..no biggie. You eat part of the SB as this years salary, then the prorated portion makes his cap number 12.5,12.5 and so on...and every year you have cap room, you bring his pro rate into that budget. Those are reasonable numbers for the best corner in the game. P.S....the cap is NOT GOING DOWN. the NFL is going to 18 games. So, these contracts are going to be a litttle more of a bargain anyway. (Unless the agents are slick enough to get a clause prorating the salary over 16 games, and insisting on two more equal checks, in that event)
Well that takes care of that. God damnit... I just want closure one way or another! I've been so unproductive at work lately its ridiculous. And I catch shit from co-workers every time they walk by my desk and see me Revis bobblehead.
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (4AM Email - Revis in by Thursday?) This might include a record breaking signing bonus.Geiger was tweeting the other day about money changing people. It's not like Revis was poor, but this would give him FU money right now.
Adam_Schefter RT @SI_RossTucker: My Sirius Co-Host Bob Papa, who works for HBO, said sources tell him nothing going on with Revis tonight on Hard Knocks. 2 minutes ago via ÜberTwitter think what you want. crashdmb got it first
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (4AM Email - Revis in by Thursday?) No matter how you slice those numbers are not reasonable. Way too much guaranteed. Now if we win a Super Bowl this year I don't care if we pay him $700 million.
Thought about it last night.. If I'm Revis' Agent, I MUST GET ON HBO!!!!!!!! Never in your lifetime will you get such an opportunity to sign a contract with a player on freaking HBO.... How much is THAT worth in publicity. We already know the agent cares little about the player and his future opportunities or public perception.... Probably too late for tonights episode anyway... Set it up for next week set up - THE SIGNING and make a whole episode about THE FIRM and the SIGNING OF REVIS CHRIST.
the cap is going up the NFL is going to 18 games. So, these contracts are going to be a litttle more of a bargain anyway. Tannenbaum it appears is willing to play that out. Plus..remember today, you have substantial savings for a couple more years at the QB position...(RB too...)
The Darrelle Revis Holdout Thread (4AM Email - Revis in by Thursday?) All of that is not true, the cap might reach $130 million and the players do not want a 18 game schedule.
Isn't Bob Papa the Giants play by play guy? Maybe nothing is going on with Hard Knocks but that doesn't mean that Revis and the Jets are close.
So this Bob Pompeani guy in Pitt says it's getting close but his source is "people in the county" what the hell does that mean? His sources are in jail?
I can't believe that the majority of people here believe that he is signing today. Nobody of any reputation is confirming this, quite the opposite. Now we are banking on greasybanana.com for our info? I hope you all are right, but I would bet the ranch against it
