Let's be serious, and get in Revis' head for a second. I do NOT think he is willing to sit out ONE game this year. His uncle is Sean Gilbert, but how could he honestly do this? Last year he had an outrageous amazing year. If I was Tanny I would press the ...'Hey Revis here I will bump your salary for this year to 12million gaurenteed, and next year you still have that 20mill gaurenteed.' So let's work this out next year buddy!!
I heard the producer/owner(on ESPN1050 Radio) of HBO Hard Knocks say every Wednesday they are not done finishing editing the final product by 7PM(Hard knocks is at 10PM) So there is hope they are filming some secretive stuff right now trying to not get it leaked, so HBO makes $$$$$$$$$$, and maybe they will thrown the Jets a bone with some cash. Hard Knocks debuted with almost 1million viewers(900k). They dont make money on views, but on subscriptions to HBO. Also the debut spiked 37% higher than ANY OTHER premiere in the history of Hard Knocks. They may be trying to get the Jets to milk this entire thing. 2months ago somebody speculated about HBO/Jets doing this shady stuff, but to be honest I would of been very pissed off then....Now I really could give a crap, if this entire Revis thing was big joke.
The only significant date I saw was "Aug. 31 -- Roster cutdown to maximum of 75 players " but that's Tuesday.
I'm sure it's not a big joke, there's too much history of this behavior. So what is the deal with the wednesday or saturday part of his speculation? Saturday?
I know man. This is a big leap, but this guy is very respected. Mort, and Peter King were saying 'listen everybody on this Revis thing by Tim C. is out of left field, and everybody we asked says no. BUT Tim is very respected, and I trust what he is saying even though I cannot find ANYTHING out there' That is basically Peter King, and Mort's words. I don't think it's Deion, I think it's HBO. The Wednesday thing makes no sense for anybody but HBO to promote.
Yeah..but...how do they make money if nobody is watching? Why would anybody know to watch if all everybody is doing is denying it? Now maybe HBO is using Cowlishaw as a tool to start a rumor just so people do watch. That would make much more sense.
I don't think the Jets would play this out on HBO's schedule. I think they'll sign Revis and announce it the second that it becomes feasible to do it. The whole thing is too much of a distraction at this point, and there'd be no reason to have Revis not start practicing immediately if they got him signed, he's already missed half of camp. The only people for whom Wednesday is important are HBO, and even if they thought he was signing earlier they'd probably leak it as Wednesday so all the people reporting the rumor mentioned Hard Knocks.
Guys from Texas don't mess around, whoever his source is must be reliable or trying to ruin this guy. If he does get this right he will skyrocket to stardom, and will demand a 600% increase. I hope he's right, I'm still doubtful, very doubtful.
Schefter was just on and basically said the same thing. Confirmed the probable Mangold signing and then mentioned Cowlishaw. Said he is respected but he (Schefter) can't get anybody else to confirm a word of it.
Cowlishaw is basically putting his reputation and credability on the line here......the fact that nobody else has heard a peep on this....makes me lean towards it being true. The Jets and Revis' camp were ADAMANT that a gag order be implemented from here on out. Why would Cowlishaw jeopardize his credability over this? Unless he was given false information.....I'm willing to believe where there's smoke there's certainly fire.
