I am no longer a darksider, but I am definitely not a sunshine either. Could we be SB bound? Maybe, but not yet. Definitely not yet. My goals for the upcoming season are realistic and still hinge on a wide array of variables, but to expect more than 8 wins next year is just not being realistic. I think we wind up with somewhere between 6 and 8 wins if I were to guess now. That will probably change as September draws near.

Now, mathematically, we are in the SB race next year along with everyone else, but our chances are dimished given what we had to deal with this off-season.

We are in a much-needed rebuilding mode currently. In a way, our record next season is the very last thing I am looking at. Next year will be all about evaluating our future potential.......................I just want it to be promising for a change; I can live with that.

This is totally fair. Reset the darksider clock to zero; I like it. If we are a disgrace in 2007 then it will be justified to turn the darkside force back up to medium boil at least.

I think what he was complaining about was that IHHO the FO had not done enough fast enough

Gotta answer me this champ...Why would you want to clear out Barton?

James Reed signed a 1-year contract so he's a UFA, no worries.

Barton in his 1st season with the Jets was an excellent free agent signing, racking up over 100 tackles and dominating the entire game against Seattle at the Meadowlands. Last year when he went down and out, you could clearly see the Jets missed him dearly. He's a good linebacker, and only 28-29 years old, in the prime of his career.

You say Barton is deadwood that needs to be cleared out, and Vilma is nothing but an average linebacker.

So you want a linebacking corps consisting of Joey Porter - Brian Urlacher - Dan Morgan - Takeo Spikes...And of course depth wise you would want Mike Peterson, Keith Brooking and Keith Bulluck right?

Well to be fair, the FO has done what it can so far to improve the salary cap situation and put us in a position to move forward. They can't really go getting players and changing the shape of the team until FA starts and the draft comes along.....

good for you darksiders, you guys are more like people who cant see the big picture so you bitch and moan about every bump in the road and wait for something good to happen so you can say you knew it was going to happen.

if you dont like the team go find a new one.

Well, that is probably not necessary. I just think that some of the darksiders have taken their realism to unrealistic boundaries.

You have to remember that quite a lot of them are the older salts that have seen some pretty nasty stuff since 1970.

There are no more Darksiders, just Irrational people.

The true Darksiders who knew what was up won the last battle and have now reset the clock as you should for a new FO.

i understand that, but by complaining all the time and just pointing to failure everytime proves how out of touch someone is not being able to realize there are ups and downs for a franchise.

and the part about realism to unrealistic boundaries is absolutely true. but listening to some of these people is like hearing a kid complain about eating his vegetables

There are plenty of Darksiders. Not knowing the future of the franchise because of mega changes predicates some to feel this way. Calling them irrational is a bit over the top. The season only ended a month ago. I know it's just a game but you can't expect everybody to be free of bitterness. Show a little patience. That goes for everyone who thinks Darksiders should lock it up.

Well put. For the record I am not a darksider, and not a sunshiner. I try to take a realistic approach to analyzing what goes on.

As a fan of the Jets, I can't tell you how much I want them to be successful. Right now, I am just observing. My expectations for next year are very reasonable. I just pray that we have found the real deal this time, just once.

Coach K "but im sick of older fans using the bad past as an excuse to sit around like Scrooge and scream angry fragments for no reason."

I'm the oldest poster here and have been on the "Darksider Bench" for all the dumb Herm displays and actions. But I think my posts were accurate.

My "Darkside Clock" is not only set to zero NOW, but it goes back to minus 4, which means it will take that long ( until after the 4th game) before I will post any comment that anyone can call negative. Mark it down!

So just remember that there are so many people reading these posts that the DarkSider shade goes from opaque black to a early twilight gray.

The older you get the more memories you have in your fan resume. Some can handle it and some crack, depending on the person (poster). I can't blame one NY Jets fan for being bitter as hell seeing what has transpired since the inception of this team.

For those who literally saw what happened in 1969, I can probably guess they consider themselves lucky to have witnessed it. At least now after all this time. Does it get old to hear the negativity sometimes? Of course it does but it happens true as rain cause it's been a while and I think those guys really love being Jets fans. An they feel slighted and rightfully so.

Does anyone remember the poster that quit being a fan after all the years of the Jets to that point? He was an old one. It was about 3 years ago. I'm thinking his name was 1969 or something. I don't think it was Champ69. Some of the posters tried to turn him around from quitting eventhough no one like to post with him because he would get irrate, but he just vanished. He was almost impossible to talk to. And if it was you Champ (which I doubt because your grammer is really good, this poster was a little wacky with incomplete trains of thought and bad spelling and such) That my friends is the worst case.

This thread isn't even close to being that. That is, the creator of this post. I'm not trying to police this post but some of you just don't respect the past. Some say others don't look at the bigger picture but what is the bigger picture when you really think about it. The past is a great gage in judging the future.

Anyway my clock is at "0" as well but we will be able to determine how this team will be for years to come after roughly halfway through the season.

    IMHO

    Those are some true words.

I've been wearing green and cheering for the Jets since back before Curtis Martin was even born. Show me a long time Jets fan at 40+ years and I'll show you a very disapointed person.

I want to see the Jets win a SB before I'm too senile to enjoy it.
