We haven't even drafted anyone yet or participated in free agency. Just give it a chance. Let us not forget, that Herm left one of the biggest piles of manure that was once a football team and an organization, that I think I have ever witnessed. There is much work to tbe done and it is getting done.
HERM IS GONE. Case closed... Now sit back and come up with legitimate complaints if you want to whine - This isn't even Darksider stuff - this is crazy talk - Every new regime takes it's 1st year to clean dead wood and get their systems in place... That's what Saban did in Miami and he came right out and said Wins and Losses don't matter that year - It's BUILDING a foundation - an OL, finding a QB that counts... This team could go 4-12 and it could be a HUGE success and the one of the most important years in the history of the Jets IF thay build the foundation of a winner for the next decade.... RELAX and watch - Save your crying for 2 years from now - Complaining now shows your lack of football intellect and is completely ridiculous. I'm a born Darksider and I scoff at what you write...
So you're willing to give our QB (who has yet to play an entire 16 game schedule; and is coming off his second rotator cuff surgery) a chance....but not willing to give Mangini a chance? Correct me if I'm wrong, but you ARE the same guy that said in a different thread "we should have kept Herm", are you not?
The Darsiders were on the money about Herm and Bradway.... The Darksiders should be in a 2 year cooling off period now... Whining now, isn't being a Darksider, it's being Irrational and out of touch with the NFL... You shouldn't want a patch job "Quick Fix" like Herm/Bradway always tried to do - You should want a methodical building up of a system and foundation of a Championship.
MY dream draft: 1st Rd - Trade the #4 pick for any pick in the 6-12 range and stock up a 2nd round pick. Teams want to trade up for many players just get the best deal and move on. --Draft LenDale White RB 6-1, 235 Southern California as the every down back we need. --Trade Abe for a later 1st rounder pick and get Brodrick Bunkley DT 6-2, 300 Florida State (I really hate this pick but we need a DT to hold the line and Robertson is not it. Thomas need to step up and fill the hole left by Abe or Johnson might.) 2nd Rd - 1st pick is Marcus McNeill OT 6-8, 322 Auburn to replace Fabini --2nd pick for trading down is Nick Mangold C 6-3, 297 Ohio State to replace Kevin 3rd Rd - 1st pick is draft Charlie Whitehurst QB 6-4, 216 Clemson --End or 3rd round Compensation pick from Jordan we Mark Setterstrom OG 6-3, 318 Minnesota End of day one and we have our new young offensive line in place with a starting runningback lined up behind our new face of the future at QB. As a bonus we finally have Furgy's replacement which the DL needed. You all get your OL you want, some get the RB they want, and I get the QB I want. We all can be happy. And just incase Chad does come back, we didn't pay out millions for a QB, just league minimum plus a few hundred thousand in a signing bonus.
I'm against drafting White or any RB... The Jets have to build their foundations and find and groom a QB - Next year with their high draftpick THEN you add a RB as icing on the cake.. No need to add a guy now when you have Martin, Houston and Blaylock already here and pay a guy like White big bucks to get creamed... Plus the FA market is littered with RB's right now - There's a RB glut and their price is falling - no need to spend that when we have so many other holes. Besides Houston just may be the guy.
IDEAL DRAFT Round 1: _#4- D'Brickashaw Fergerson _#9- Vernon Davis Round 2: #36- Nick Mangold Round 3: #68- another o-lineman or NT
I find nothing that we are getting the #9 pick in the draft! We will draft a QB this year(I hope) even though Chad will be signed. I would love to get Mangold, but there are a # of teams that are wishing for him.
You know what, you're right. I am going to change my name to Eddie and go buy a Steelers jersey for next year. The only answer to our problems would be a load of changes which the Jets have already made. But it's still not good enough because god forbid they succeed,i won't have anything to bitch about.
He still has much, much deadwood to clear out IMHO such as Barret, Barton, Hobson, Reed just ti name a few
I am a much proffesed darksider but I have a positive outlook to the season. I am going in with the attitude that we are going to be the worst team in football but it's ok. We are going to be a bad team on the up instead of a bad team with a bunch of decling players. That was last year and Mangini and Tanny recognized that and started to clean house. Does Mawae still have a few years left in the tank? Yes but he has absolutely no value to the team right now. You should just relax, maybe you can't tell but everybody seems to notice that changes are being made and they are big changes. No player is getting a free pass under this regime. As far as Barrett being cut, I am no big fan of Barrett but I look at it this way. If Mangini can get Troy Brown to play DB I'm sure he can get Barrett to start playing up to his potential.
AS I am this year with Tannenbaum and Mangini. Both unqualified, the sooner the Jets have two 1-15 seasons in a row the better, then maybe Woody Johnson might have a Bill Parcells moment and turn the team over to qualified experienced professionals with proven track records. Can the happy talk, what have the Brokeback Mountain boys actually accomplished so "far" 1. Failed to bring in highly qualified coaches. Save for Westhoff, potential coaches they were supposedly interested in ran away to sign better deals with other teams. Several had to shoot their way out of Hofstra to leave (Heimerdinger and Marrone), other targets simply took lesser jobs with other teams (Chris Palmer to the Cowboys). Other targets from Mangini's past were signed to bigger contracts after being refused permission to interview with the Jets (Rob Ryan of the Raiders and Jeff Davidson of the Browns). The Jets now have an OC who has never called a play in college or the NFL and a DC who has been with the Jets since Parcells hired him and has been passed over for the job three times. 2. Managing the cap. A 10 year old could fit the Jets under the cap by letting go three Pro Bowl players (Mawae, Law and Abraham). How do you replace them? So far, very disappointing. Why would any free agent be attracted to the Jets, other than having no better offers?
H'mmm better watch out as some on this board will begin accusing you of being Burn in Hell Woody under another forum name.
Nope disagree with you on Barrett since you 1st have to have ability to be coached up. Do U realize he to is also getting long, long teeth?
Well Mangini's strength is on the defensive side of the ball - NE has done quite well with what you would call retreads... I'll leave it up to him wether or not he can make it work with those guys... I'd say the offense needs a ton more help and you throw all defensive guys out there?
LOL - I guess I'm No longer a Darksider then.... The Darksiders got what they wanted in Herm/Bradway gone - At it's peak Darksider nation hot about 80% of the fans... I'd say it's at like 10% now - You can be captain.... I may be back in 2 years but, I think it's joke to complain now after we finally got rid of Herm the Bozo.
I agree with this completely.... don't know what fans are expecting this season.........but i would say anyone expecting to get to the playoffs is not being realistic
