Yeah, I'd rather just see what we have instead of picking up a waived player. Unless something crazy happens like Denver cutting Brandon Marshall (less than 0% chance of that happening) I think we're gonna go with what we have at WR.
i've been reading exactly the opposite and have seen vollmer (sp) play left and right tackle. belichick praises chung as a smart talented kid and you wouldn't know talent if it played ten years in front of your nose! all reports are the three players you mentioned are future starters and excellent draft picks.
This surprised the shit out of me. I thought Canfield was going to be good, and now he's been cut already.
Not official yet, but this would be a great pickup for us if he does get the axe.. 49ers | J. Hill expects to get released Fri, 04 Sep 2009 22:35:47 -0700 Matt Maiocco, of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, reports San Francisco 49ers WR Jason Hill is not pleased with the amount of reps he received in training camp and figures he might get released.
Giants cut Tyree but I'm not sure he is any better than what we already have but he will always be the answer to one of the often asked superbowl trivia questions.
Tyree would probably be just a special teams player.. At WR, he's no upgrade over Stuckey or Clowney..
I also added Amani Toomer, who was released from Kansas City a few days ago. He'd add a veteran presence to an experienced group.
Dan Gronkowski was released by the Lions. I wasn't too sure why they drafted two Tight Ends. Apparently, they're no longer sure either. He's someone that a lot of people were talking about as a possible UDFA before he was picked up by the Lions in the 7th. Definitely worth a look for his blocking.
Not sure if posted yet: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/05/browns-cut-ivy-1/ Browns cut Ivy Posted by Tom Curran on September 5, 2009 12:22 PM ET Cornerback Corey Ivy will be among the players released by the Browns today as Cleveland cuts down to 53 according to PFT strongman, Mike Florio. Signed in March after spending three seasons in the AFC North with the Bengals, the 32-year-old Ivy couldn't beat out the competition for the nickel corner spot. Ivy's release means that rookie Coye Francies and veteran Hank Poteat will likely make the cut. Given he played 16 games for the Ravens last season and still has some tread left on his tires, Ivy will likely be a guy that will latch on somewhere. Weren't we looking at him at one time?
Yep. We were considering him. Could be interesting, but I'm not sure whose spot he would take. If he can't make the Browns, I don't give him much hope of catching on here.
Giants cut DE Mathews and TE Evans. http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2009/09/no-surprise-giants-say-good-by.html The first was a numbers thing, and given their depth on the DL, I would suspect they have to cut some quality there. The TE was expected to be number 2 at that position this year. I don't know either. If someone else has thoughts on these guys I'd love to hear them
FYP. Matthews is someone we should look at. He's a strong blocker who can (occasionally) catch the ball.
Here's a quality veteran WR, or at least in Oakland he was: Rams | Curry released Sat, 05 Sep 2009 11:06:38 -0700 Alex Marvez, of FOXSports.com, reports the St. Louis Rams have released WR Ronald Curry.
