I see your point. I still think, at the end of the day, Bellicheat was intentionally giving us a facial and knew what he was doing, but reasonable minds can differ on that.
Just to be clear, here... If the score had been 50-0, and Tom Brady had a 2nd and inches on the 50 yard line, and the Pats called a play action bomb to Tate for a touchdown, that would be running up the score... ...and I'd be fine with it. If we're talking about humiliating and embarrassing the opponent, an arch-rival, what could be more embarrassing than saying, "OK, we'll take it easy on you. We're going to run a draw into the strength of your defense. We'll ask Mankins to only use one hand to block on the play, too. Tell you what: after that, run a screen and all our defensive players will move out of the way so you guys can score. Will you stop crying now?"
Rivers does it all the time thats just the way they are. The Jest talk a lot of shit off the field Brady does it on. Scott does the same thing but nobody gives a shit because what has Scott accomplished?
When has Belli ever displayed class in his career? Did he display class when he scribbled "I Quit" on a napkin? Did he display class when he stole another mans wife? Did he display class when he ordered an assistant to video tape side line signals? Did he display class when he refused to shake the other teams coach's hand after a game? Class is the one thing I never expect from Belli! He ran up the score because we were unable to stop him. Weather it was the right thing to do never enters his mind. He just does not have the ability to consider it. He is a great coach but as a person class is something he is sorely lacking.
I think people are mixing arguments. Bellicheck has been un-classy and has absolutely run up the score in the past. In this particular situation I don't think that is the case. A run up the middle is asking to be stopped. Passing the ball later in the 4th was more out of line than the 4th down run. EDIT: hahah. oops. wrote classy instead of un-classy. kinda changes things ;P
And another thing... If the Jets were pitching a shut-out and Tom Brady had the ball on a 4th and 17, I want to see an all-out blitz. That might be "running down" the score. But regardless, I would want the Jets to preserve the shut-out.
Ahem... Like it or not it's the excepted gentlemens choice. Kicking a short field goal is almost automatic points. Giving the opposition an oppertunity to stop you on fourth is the proper thing to do in that situation.
I've been trying to wrap my head around this argument that going for it on 4th down from the 15 in that situation was somehow running up the score. But I've figured it out...maybe they think NE should have puntedhmy:
I have no problem with what the Pats did. I do have a problem with how the Jets responded to it. They played like they didn't care that their opponent was running up the score.
I don't think that many of us cried. There are always going to be some that do, but most of us know that we have had a target on our heads for the better part of a decade now and everyone wants to prove what they can do to us. Now the Jets have that same kind of target because of their ranking, and their swagger and confidence... something you guys should be proud of, not bitch about.
some here get it. others, as you're aware of, overreact. good game for you guys. best of luck- injury wise - for the remainder of hte season. i'm hoping we see each other again later in the season.
You NY fans sound just like your coach, how many people on here proclaimed the pats sucked and the jets will win big. Then after getting it handed to you, you whine about the big bad bullies being mean and please stop cuz we can't protect ourselves. If you're going to beat your chests all week, dont whine when you get whalloped and don't fight back, not our responsibilty to stop our offense, it's your highly ranked defenses job. You really want pity and need the Patriots to stop trying because your D couldn't do its job....it's not pop warner. They are pros who make millions, too bad if their feelings get hurt cuz the other team scored alot.
obvious troll is obvious. good job reading the thread. you'll find most in here disagree with the OP.
Thats the problem with typing stuff. In no way am I bitching about a blowout. I just didnt like the calls, after a week of each team respecting each other in the media, and then to act different it seemed classless. We got whooped bottom line. But for Pats fans to say Rex was talking shit leading up to this and to say he said we were gonna whoop the pats asses is just false.
Maybe it was asked already, but... What would you have expected to happen if the roles were reversed? Do you honestly believe Rex would have pulled Schotty and Sanchez aside and said, "OK guys, that's enough. Take it easy on 'em now." 'Cause I don't.
I remember all this from Rex "the patriots' compliments are sarcastic" "I am coming to foxboro to kick belichick's butt" "the better team will win, and we are the better team" among others...
Stop it. There's nothing wrong with playing football when your opponent sucks. If our OC understood that, we'd be a better team.
We deserved it. They put their foot up our ass and it should feel uncomfortable, but getting angry is not going to get that foot dislodged. Only solid coaching can do that.
I'm sorry, but anyone here who didn't think the Jets deserved to get the score "run up" on them for all the shit talking been going on, you have never played a sport or were coddled by your mommy... This is a mans game, and the Patriots were out to take the Jets manhood, their will and anything else they brought with them on the field away from them. Mission accomplished... It's about time someone gave the Jets a good swift kick right in the ass... now its not the situation your in, but its how you handle it... Lets see how the Jets handle it. I'd like to believe the Jets will come out this week and play shut down football and that Rex will just shut down the mindless rhetoric for a while and get to doing something constructive... like correcting the multitude of mistakes we see week in and week out.
