That's idiotic. If a player is a backup but proves himself worthy of a greater role, he should get it. That's nonsensical logic.
So now i am another banned user. Amazing. MY DAD IS A JETS FAN. I WATCH LOTS OF JETS GAMES. Sorry i know so much about the Jets but i'm not somebody else. Check my IP address if you wish
He flipped out so he never had a chance lol and even id he earned a starting job, did he really have competition?
Patterson was a good signing at a cheaper price. This is what smart teams do esp the Patriots. Like some of the guys NEP signs he didn't work out. For some reason they couldn't work it out with him.
I know plenty about lots of teams. Espcially the Giants. I know about the Jets because they are a NY team and my dad roots for them. I like to know what goes on with the NY teams
I know that is wasn't Woody Johnson not wanting to spend because every NFL owner has so much money, and makes so much money off the team, that the difference in paying out the additional $6-10 million dollars a year in salary that we are talking about is pocket change to Woody. He will make outrageous amounts of money this year, and a few $million in player salary means nothing to him. Even media members don't give credence to this theory, because it's that dumb. It's totally created by fans who get drunk and angry every Sunday.
Oh so a headcase makes him unsignable? There are a lot headcases in the NFL but they are actually good and thats why teams sign them. This guy is terrible (as we saw in preseason firsthand). So we should count on a guy who has only played a full season once in 9 years to lock in as the starter? Way too risky and it backfired right in Idziks face.
Having a hard time getting the updated FA tracker on CB's, I'm on a decent WiFi as well. My whole point was not to bash Idzik on his off-season we have the power of hindsight right now so it looks worse than it was, I applauded at the time not splurging on certain FA's, but once the injuries started hitting he should have brought in a shit ton of try outs and seen who stuck. Maybe it didn't get reported correctly that he did in fact bring in a few try outs at CB but I've seen no reports on it(granted NY media is worth shit) but you can not go into the season comfortable with AA starting at corner. Are all of our problems on the secondary? Of course not we have issues all over the team some if them probably due to coaching, technique issues, playbook issues, who really knows as a fact we are all just fans and not FO workers. Even with the coaches tape the NFL offers its all speculation without knowing the exact call, we can all see a talent problem though and its glaring at some positions, CB is one of em.
Come on Max, I'm not looking through 31 teams rosters to come up with a name, but we know all 31 teams have 2nd string CBs. You explain where that high pick at corner went. Tell me how an injured Patterson was better than an injured Cro. Or how an injury prone rookie is better than a guy who played through a tough injury all season. Cro was better than Milliner last season, even with the injury. He could have been signed for cheap and knew the system. Stop making excuses for Idzik, he fuck'ed this up. It's his job to find and field a competitive team.
I saw him play and he isn't terrible. And obviously the Jets didn't think so either cause they signed him. And if he's so bad how come he's had an NFL career and started a fair amount of games. Again you can't have a Pro Bowler at every position. And most teams try to get by with just one cover corner who they pay. And fill in with other guys who are good but not elite.
It's hilarious that you're using a few snaps of preseason football as proof that a player is not good.
Teams have second stringers, but you can't just assume that a player is available for trade. It's always cracked me up that people assume that every potential roster move is reported by the media. You really don't think that they've looked at film of guys on other rosters and made a call here or there? In a multi billion dollar business, executives don't always dance in the streets announcing their plans. I guarantee people in New England don't assume they know every roster move Belichick contemplates.
What I think doesn't matter, what we know is that he didn't trade for anyone before the season started. I actually like the Adams and Lewis signings, I just think they were late in coming. I don't expect great things from rookies or even second year players, I don't expect it from GM'S either. He still has time to grow into the job. The problem with new coaches and new GM's... they've only been loyal to the team for a short while, the fans have suffered lifetimes. Idzik will be an outsider and criticized, until he wins something.
