Lol generally you use a CB in man coverage in a Ryan defense. It's not like there are all sorts of creative ways to have a CB play man coverage.
The reason he's a free agent is because he's a head case plus the Jets probably told everybody they know to stay clear of him. No one said he was good enough to be a starter but good enough to play and if needed start games. He actually played well for Miami last year when not injured. BTw isn't DRC kind of banged up right now with the Giants. He only played a little over half the snaps in last week's game and has an ankle and a hammy.
Lol how is that working? You make a thread about guys they missed out on and you even put Bailey in there and then shit on him
He actually wasn't a scrub. He came up in the league as a backup, but had played quite well over the last couple years. Signing him to an inexpensive deal to compete with a rookie made a lot of sense.
I gave you the benefit of the doubt, but it's pretty clear why you are here. I even gave you advice and a pep talk.
This wasn't a thread about guys they missed out on. This was a thread about the legitimate CB free agents, and how there weren't actually all that many.
One thing I give Rex credit for is how he coached up Milliner last year. When the guy played horribly he benched him. But worked hard with the guy in practice and kept the guy's confidence up by prediciting he'd be the best rookie corner in the NFL last season. They did a good job with him. He's much improved and a possible good cover corner. Too bad he never did the same with Mark Sanchez.
Would you care to explain how he is horrible? FYI, just in case you didn't know this, just making a blanket statement doesn't make it true. What I'm saying is I'm looking for something a little more than "because he is" or "because I said so"
To troll badly. You're trying, don't get me wrong, but you're just not smart enough to keep it from being obvious.
Yeah, very few, and Idzik signed one of them. Patterson had never had any kind of issue like the one he had this summer, in all his years in the league.
He wasn't even a starting CB in the league before the Jets signed him. Signing a backup to compete for a starting job isn't a good idea
How do you know if it was Woody Johnson not wanting to spend? Woody could of left it all in the hands of the GM and let him go to work and build the roster the way he wanted to for all we know. We know youre trying your hardest to look at this from a pro Idzick perspective but youre not doing a very good job. There is literally no reason to go as cheap as he did and there is nothing wrong with offering more then a 1 year contract. He could of signed a "legit" CB and not sure injury prone scrub back up like Patterson and still had this team in cap heaven going forward. He had plenty of the players on that list up for grabs and he decided to stand pat on almost all of them and lowball the ones he did reach out to. Thinking we are set on a secondary of Milliner (injury prone and benched 3x last year), Walls (career back up), McDougle (injury prone), and Wilson (cut on most teams not named Jets) is laughable. The talent evaluation is a huge reason this team is in the mess they are in right now. The secondary is a downright disaster and Idzik only made it worse this offseason by doing next to nothing and it is showing on the field. Rex's defenses require good CBs with his press and man coverage schemes and every QB is exposing this team through the air now. Whether Rex adjusts or not is a different story but the roster Idzik put together is crippling to any coach right now.
