Staying on topic, Mickelson played a great Final round yesterday, no doubt. But like OP said Tiger gets too much attention even when he loses, well he started a whole thread about Tiger "folding" when he never held a lead, NEVER in his 14 Majors won coming from behind, and said nothing about the leader to start the Final round not even finishing over par. Had to single out Tiger. Obviously Tiger = ratings. Always have, always will be.
End of the day, Tiger is still the #1 ranked player in the world. He's a polarizing guy and the fact that he got lapped in the final round by anyone would be a big story. With that said Homeboy, between 1962 and 1980, the longest gap Jack Nicklaus went without winning a major was 3 years. Tiger's well beyond that now. Yes, the bar is set high, but if Tiger really wants to be considered the best of all time, he's losing daylight. There are a good amount of people who don't like Phil, and it's never a good reason. Not liking the smirk or aww shucks attitude. Who knows. Either way, for me, he's an easy guy to root for and a ton of fun to watch when he has it going.
The context in which you used it was clearly racist. Hey don't just take my word for it pineapple head, it was YOU who was banned for your Boston Marathon remark and it was YOU who was threatened with a ban for your pedophile comment. That aside, anyone who says he HATES some fucking guy who plays golf for a living isn't just someone speaking their mind, it's some tool with a screw loose. I'm not a fan of Mickelson (always thought he had a little of that Greg Norman 'choke' factor). But I don't pull for low life scumbags either.... Years before Woods' personal troubles went public and he was beloved, writer John Feinstein was interviewed by Roy Firestone who asked him which athlete was different in real life vs. his public perception and without hesitation Firestone said Tiger Woods; that he was anything but the 'nice guy' rep he enjoyed. Once a scumbag, always a scumbag.
Not sure why people don't like Phil, when I lived in Phoenix a friend and I bumped into him at a Circle K, this was in the day I really didn't follow golf so I didn't know who he was but my friend did. We were walking in and Phil was walking out. My friend stopped him to ask for an autograph but Phil started asking him about if he was ASU fan and what he thought of Jake Plummer (long time ago) and the chances for the Cardinals. Then before he was done he stopped us from walking in and told my friend he had something for him and pulls a hat out of his car and hands it to my buddy and says wear it on the course for good luck. We then proceeded to go into Circle K where the clerk asked who he was and my friend tells him to which the clerk replies he comes in all the time and is a really cool guy. He's not my favorite golfer but I do like him, he's a very likable guy. I've heard some stories about when he comes into Vegas how he always tips everyone really well and is always friendly with the fans. Basically the anti Tiger who tips like shit and is a pric.
Not a huge gold fan. I do follow though. Any time a US golfer is in the lead and competing against a British or another guy I do support the US guy no matter what the name is. Phil was the good surprise for me. I thought Tiger was the only American that had a chance to win but seeing Phil emerge really made me happy. Also I don't understand why Tiger fans hate Phil. Is there a bad blood between the two?
My favorite was when he cheated on his wife with about 80 women, he said he was entitled...his father called him the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ...you can't make this shit up...
That's right. But the worse words you would use in your Duplo-block version of language would probably bust the 2000 character limit of a post while using only 4 letters so you can't really use it here.
