Why would they do that? Mangini and Tannebaum say they are always looking to upgrade the talent on the team. Favre is a clear upgrade over the QBs on the roster. They should only announce an end to the "talks" at such a point when the feel that it would be detrimental to the team because Favre would not have enough time to learn and be ready for the season.

(By the way, the Jets live in a circus called NY. Favre would be just another elephant in the parade.)

Yeah, and I thought it was ridiculous when the Pats had their own crawl on ESPN.

So is ESPN reporting that a trade is imminent outside the division? I can't get to a TV right now.

Yeah that was the most likely scenario to me aside from him retiring. Kinda sucks.

The Bucs will never release Garcia, we've had this debate many times. NOT HAPPENING. Why would the Bucs release their pro bowl (albiet IR) QB? No one ever said Favre would start for the Bucs right away or ever. Gruden loves collecting QB's.

If they were to release someone, it'd be Simms.

I cant take this Favre thread.

Mortenson just spoke with Favre. He said that sometime this afternoon Favre will have his first conversation with the Bucs who he has been reluctant to talk to previously. He also said that "members of his family" (probably his wife) want him to talk to the Jets. Apparently the Jets told Mort that they believe he could be ready to start the season opener for the Jets if they could get him into camp by the 7th of August and that they want to talk to Favre to sell him on the idea they can win the division this year.

I have no link, this was just on ESPN.

Oh please god, do not get into a bidding war with the Bucs over this guy.

I would welcome Favre on to this team...but i don't want the Jets to forfeit their souls for him. If he wants to come here...great....if not.....let the Bucs or whoever have him....I'm sick of the bullshit.
